Let’s show our local heroes how much we appreciate them by donating one or more of the following items:
Boxes or bags or snack size Pretzels, Goldfish, Cheez- it’s, Cookies, Granola Bars, Popcorn, Chips, Cheese Crackers, Gatorade, Water Bottles, Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper and Miniature Bottles of Hand Sanitizer.
These are all items that our local heroes can grab as they head out to keep us all safe.
Please send items with your students.
Students, please place your items in the boxes at the end of each hallway.
Library Book Checkout/Return
- The last day for students to check out library books will be Friday, May 3rd.
- Notices of checked-out or overdue books will be emailed the evening of Friday, May 10th.
- Paper notices of checked-out or overdue books will be sent home in Tuesday folders on May 14th.
- All books are due by the last day of school.
- Books may be brought to the library or dropped off in the book drop in the front lobby during school hours.

Talent Showcase (Grades 3-5) ~ May 14, 2024
The LCE Lion Choir will be performing and leading us through our LCE Talent Showcase. The preview performance will be May 14th at 8:30 am and the evening performance at 6:00 pm. Please join us at either performance as we enjoy singing and dancing.
Ms. Marrero, Music Teacher, has sent more information about the Talent Showcase to 3rd-5th grade parents via Skyward.
5th Grade Recognition Ceremony
The 5th grade team is preparing for our 5th grade recognition ceremony that will be held at the awards ceremony on May 22nd in the Cafeteria (see attached invitation).
In an effort to make this occasion memorable for 5th graders, we would like for you to send a picture of your child to include in our class presentations. This photo will be shared during the recognition ceremony. We only need one photo of your child from any point in their life.
Additionally, we would also like you to submit a short message of encouragement for your child as they move on to middle school. Your message should be no more than 50 words. Please send your photo and quote to your child’s homeroom teacher by Tuesday, May 14th.
We appreciate your help in making this a special moment for our students.

Field Day ~ May 17, 2024 ~ VOLUNTEERS ONLY ~ NO VISITORS PLEASE
We need lots of parent volunteers to make sure Field Day runs smoothly. This is one of our students favorite events, so please join in the fun and sign up to volunteer for our field day event. Volunteers are needed to run the stations and cover lunch times in the classrooms so teachers can have a break.

Volunteers must have a cleared background check (1st link below). Please make sure to complete this in advance as it may take some time to get cleared. If you are not cleared on the day of Field Day, you will not be able to volunteer.

Thank you to the LCE PTO, under the leadership of president Nehal Farrag, for all of the unique and fun events and purchases the PTO made this year for LCE students, faculty, and staff. It was a banner year and we appreciate the over 2,700 volunteer hours spent at LCE!

Summer Birthday Marquee Messages
Is your student celebrating a birthday in the May, June, July or August? For only $10, you can buy a special message for your student. This message will remain on the marquee for two days starting on your requested date.
Just click on the balloons for the online Birthday Marquee Request and submit your requests as soon as possible but no later than the last day of school which is May 25, 2023 (early dismissal at 12:10 pm).
What a great way to celebrate your student’s special day and support the LCE PTO at the same time!

If your child has medication in the clinic, you will receive information via email and/or phone call on the pick-up date and time.
IMMUNIZATIONS
If you received a reminder on updating your child's immunizations for the 2024-25 school year, please email the updated immunization record to me so I can update their chart.
Per Department of State Health Services, your child needs to be up-to-date on vaccines to start and remain in school. If your child has not met the minimum immunization requirements (see links below), they will not be able to start school in August.

Attendance Matters
Attendance is very important. Every day your students learn so much and get smarter and smarter. We want to make sure that our students at LCE have a solid foundation. We are trying to make sure that our percentage at LCE is greater than 96%. See our weekly percentage rates for the month of April.
