MST Weekly Update
November 22, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
All of us at MST would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving. It is an opportunity to spend time with family and friends and to be thankful for all that we have.
Next week, we have classes on Monday and Tuesday only. Wednesday is a day off from school. Since it is a very short week, there will not be a Weekly Update next week. The next edition will be sent out on December 6th.
HOSA Fall Rally
MST's Health Profession students attended the HOSA Fall Rally on Monday 11/18 that was held at the UNH Campus in Durham. Students attended some awesome breakout sessions related to Health Care and had opportunities to meet with college vendors, enjoy guest speakers, and network with students from over 30 other CTE programs in the state.
It was a great day for all of the sudents!!
Fighting Car Fires
This week, the Fire Science students spent class time learning about car fire techniques. Upon completion of their in-class lessons, the students were then then able to spend a day at the New Hampshire Fire Academy in Concord practicing those techniques.
Cosmetology In Action
Third year cosmetology students attended the 15th Annual Cosmetology In Action Student Expo on November 18th. Students participated in a variety of classes including hair color, beard trims, makeup application, ethnic haircutting and special event hairstyles. A great time for all with lots of learning!
Youth Voice Summit
A group of MST students were able to attend the Youth Voice Summit at Saint Anselm on Tuesday, November 19th. These students presented issues they felt NH legislators should focus on to a panel of NH legislators and experts of these topics! Our students chose to speak about Public Transportation (school buses and public busing) and Affordable healthcare.
Bringing youth together to share the issues that matter most to them is a great opportunity to elevate the stories of young people and make the case that candidates running for office and elected officials should value and pay attention to them. Young people are all too often dismissed in election season and after - either because they cannot vote or because many do not - but a Youth Issues Summit can reinforce the importance of their voices. It is also a great way to build empathy and understanding among people who care passionately about a given issue but for different reasons. Youth (like all groups) do not all think alike and the opportunity to talk with and learn from others to find similarities and differences between lived experiences is especially important in today’s politically divided climate.
Delayed Opening Information
As much as I hate to say it, we are moving into the time of year when snow begins to fall, and we could have a delayed opening. If the district calls for a 2-hour delay, all buses will be at their stops two hours after their scheduled time.
The MST-HS school day will begin at 9:50 with all students reporting to their Advisory for attendance. At 10:00 the students will go to their period B1 high school class or their block 2 CTE. There will not be a period A high school class or a block 1 CTE class.
FAFSA Time
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.
New England College is offering In-Person support to assist with the process of filing the FAFSA form. The event is open to all and will be held at the Manchester Welcome Center on Wednesday, December 4th. Registration is required.
