Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 25th October 2024
Spiritual Council Worship
This week, the Spiritual Council led our Wednesday Worship on the theme of ‘building foundations for the future’. In it, Ivy-Rose and Katherine played two builders who were tasked by their boss, Millie, to build one final house before retirement. One of the builders didn’t put time and care into the building of the house, and so was horrified when the boss gifted the houses to the builders at the end. It reminded the children of the parable of the wise man and the foolish man. When the rains came, the foolish man’s house on the sand fell flat, whereas the wise man’s house stayed standing. Thomas and Boaz demonstrated this by testing the strength of the houses that Katherine and Ivy-Rose had built – the careless builder’s house collapsed easily! Narrators Ella, Primrose and Felix reminded us that if we are like the wise man and the careful builder, building our lives on the foundations of Jesus’ teachings and values such as love, kindness and honesty, we are setting ourselves up well for the future. How can the actions and qualities we develop today affect our lives going forwards? Thank you to the Spiritual Council for their excellent leadership (and acting!) skills.
Early Years' Coffee Morning
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who baked, the Nursery and Reception children and staff for working so hard, and to all the parents and family members who came along to our coffee morning on Thursday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying a coffee, chat and a huge choice of cakes and biscuits. £240 was raised in cash and an unknown total through the QR code for online donations. We are delighted, thank you to all!
Harvest Donations
This week, our Ambassadors and other members of Year 6 delivered the school’s Harvest donations to the food bank at Ripon Community House. The donations were incredibly gratefully received and will be put to great use in the community, so thank you once again for your generosity.
If you would benefit from use of the food bank and food support through the Community House, school are able to complete a referral form on your behalf. Please do get in touch in complete confidence either by telephone or via email admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk
Information Sharing
Thank you for Parents Evening
Thank you to all parents and carers who attended Parents Evenings this week. It was great to see the positive conversations taking place around your child’s learning. If you were unable to attend or did not book a meeting, teachers will be in touch after half term to arrange to see you so that those important conversations can take place.
Tempest Photography
Our school photographer will be taking individual photos on Friday 8th November. Sibling photographs will also take place during the school day. However, if you wish to make an appointment after school to have a family photograph with siblings not at our school (or even with mum and dad!), booking can be made using the same online system as for parent teacher consultations. A link went out earlier this week.
