William D. Cuts Newsletter
June 2024
Message From Admin
As we look forward to the end of school and the start of summer, we still have a number of activities before the end of June. Make sure you check the calendar in this newsletter so you don’t miss out on anything.
Rugby and track were the last of the school athletics to wrap up, both having successful seasons. The rugby teams finished second and third in the city, and we had many athletes who qualified for districts and zones in track. The fine arts night was another wonderful evening that featured displays from the Art classes and a production of “The Thirty Three Little Pigs” from the Drama program.
School exams start on June 12 and run through the 20th. Students are allowed to leave once their exams are finished on June 18, 19 and 20, with permission from a parent provided to the homeroom teacher. There will be study sessions in the afternoon for all those students remaining at school. The year will be capped off with our awards night on June 27 and report cards will be released on the afternoon of June 27 as well.

Unsung Hero May 2024
Each month, staff members nominate students in our building who demonstrate what it means to be an unsung hero. An unsung hero is someone who embodies hard work, integrity, and inclusivity, often without the need for recognition or acknowledgement of their efforts.

Social Media
As we near the mid-way mark of the semester, we want to remind parents about the responsibilities students have when using social media platforms, especially those that are video-based:
Obtain appropriate consent from individuals - peers AND teachers - who appear in video, audio recording and images before forwarding them to other people or posting them to online spaces.
Before recording, be transparent about the purpose of the video, audio recording or images. Recording things with underlying motives and posting them out of context is not appropriate.
Respect others and communicate in a supportive way. Never participate in harmful, inappropriate or hurtful online behaviours.
We encourage you to have conversations with your children about social media regularly. Supporting them as they transition through adolescence and into adulthood will only help them become the best version of themselves.
