The Dentist is Coming!
April 14th and April 15th, 2025
April 14th and April 15th, 2025
Miles of Smiles will be coming to Your Child’s School!
Please keep an eye out for a consent form that will be coming home with your child. Please fill out the form completely and have your child return to his/her teacher.
All children (who return a completed consent form) are eligible to receive a dental exam, prophy (cleaning), fluoride varnish treatment, and dental sealants if needed (hard coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back permanent molars. This creates a barrier that protects the teeth from cavities)
There is NO COST to the family or school. After the services are performed, the following entities will be billed where applicable: IL Medicaid program, public/private grants, or private dental insurance.
This dental exam will fulfill the mandated State of Illinois dental exam for K, 2nd, 6th, and 9th Grades. After we see your child, a dental exam form will be filled out and left in the school office.
The child will also receive a take home paper listing the services that were provided and if follow up dental treatment is needed.
Each child we see will be given a free toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss to bring home.

Staying Healthy This Fall!
Wash your hands!
Cover your cough and sneezes! Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk.
Stay home when sick! People who have symptoms of respiratory or gastrointestinal infections, such as cough, fever, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea, should stay home. To come back to school, a student should be fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications and have no vomiting or diarrhea for the last 24 hours.
Practice other Healthy Habits- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food.
Get your Covid Booster and Flu shot!
Like other viruses, COVID-19 continues to change over time, causing new variants to develop It is important to continue to protect yourself and others by:
- Staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines.
- Staying home when sick.
- Get tested if you have symptoms. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is now offering 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests for eligible U.S. households. Orders ship completely free; individuals can order their tests at this link. Free COVID tests
The FDA recommends an updated COVID-19 vaccine, available as early as mid-September, that will be effective at reducing severe disease and hospitalization. When the vaccine becomes available, find a vaccination location near you by visiting Vaccines.gov.
Stay ahead of flu season by getting your seasonal flu vaccine as soon as possible. It is recommended that everyone ages six months and older get the flu shot sometime in September or October. Still, flu vaccinations will continue for the duration of the flu season. Getting the flu shot can keep you from getting the flu, help to reduce the severity, and prevent hospitalizations.
