Viking Families:
This week we are excited to start our six week XLT rotations. Monday and Friday will continue to be SEL days and they will stay with the teacher they currently have. Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday our Vikings will be rotating to another teacher, not necessarily on their team for academic days. These lessons are focused on reading/writing and/or math. Be sure to ask your Viking how their XLT group is going at the end of this week.

Current seventh grade students - Springfield April 2024
- Current seventh grade students have the opportunity to travel to Springfield, in April 2024, to tour the many monuments, museums, and historical sites this amazing city has to offer.
- You and your student(s) are cordially invited to an informational meeting about the April 2024, Springfield Trip on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. During the meeting, we will talk about travel dates, potential tour itinerary, and tour cost. We will also have time to answer any questions you may have. Enrollment for the tour will open after the meeting.
- These tours are such a great educational opportunity for students and I hope to see a lot of seventh graders (and parents) at the meeting to hear all about it!

Answers to frequently asked questions about school physicals
The state of Illinois physical is required for students entering Kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grade. This type of physical includes a physical exam and immunization review. It may be used for sports participation as long as the MD has checked the interscholastic box on the back above the MD signature
The IESA/IHSA sports physical can be used for sports participation in any grade. Most commonly for 7th and 8th graders. This type of physical does not include an immunization review
All physicals are good for 13 months or 395 days. Once they are expired the student is not allowed to participate in a practice or game until a new physical is received. It is helpful to keep a copy of a current physical and immunization record at home for any use outside of the school
District Bullying Policy
We want to inform you that there has been a change in the school district's policy regarding bullying allegations. Previously, school officials were required to notify parents "promptly," but a new law now mandates that notifications must be made within 24 hours of the school becoming aware of the allegation. Your child's safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we will continue to uphold these new guidelines to ensure a safer learning environment for all students.

RBMS MTSS
What is MTSS?
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a continuous school improvement framework that encompasses academic, behavioral, social, and emotional instructional support. It is a framework that allows us to give students what they need.
Starts with Screening and Diagnostic Data
We use Fastbridge to screen students three times a year to see where they are at in comparison to grade level benchmarks. We also use other sources of data to help identify student needs and academic intervention XLT groups are based off of these scores along with teacher feedback and classroom performance.
Fall Fastbridge Data:
We look at the Fastbridge data to see where we can enhance instruction. Our expectation is to be at 80%.We are celebrating that our Fall Screening Data is above the expected 80%:
- aReading:86.3%
- aMath: 84.3%
Next Steps for RBMS
As a school we are focusing on enhancing instruction through the use of Workshop Model and language strategies. Starting the week of October 2nd, XLT will be restructured:
- Monday/Friday Social Emotional lessons
- Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Academic focus.

We have a variety of lost items and would like to find their owners! Lost and found is located outside the cafeteria. Please ask your child to check this area if they're missing anything.
