AWESOME GATORS: Students & Staff
Leader in Me On-Site Recertification Visit
This week was a BIG one for our Gators as we had our on-site Leader in Me recertification review. Although we won't receive our results immediately, I couldn't be more proud of our Thornton Creek community for the efforts that not only went into the on-site visit, but more importantly, how our students, staff, and families come together day in and day out for one another.
Stay tuned for updates on our recertification and for additional pictures (like the one above) of our students and staff highlighting all the spectacular that IS Thornton Creek!
Together, Everyone (truly) Achieves More!!
AWESOME GATORS: Parent Lighthouse Team
Leader in Me Recertification...Continued
Special thanks to our Parent Lighthouse Team for their support in setting things up, taking them down, and for meeting with our reviewer to share all the ways this group is positively impacting Thornton Creek through their leadership.
We continue to make strides and grow as a building. The evolution and sustaining of our Parent Lighthouse Team is a big part of that growth!

This year, all students receive free meals through the Michigan School Meals Program, which supplements the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. However, it is still essential that families who qualify or believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals submit the Education Benefits Form. This step ensures that our students and district receive the maximum available benefits.
By submitting a free and reduced meal application, eligible families may also gain access to additional valuable benefits, such as:
- Discounts on fees for athletics and activities
- Reduced fees for SAT, ACT, and AP tests
- College application fee discounts
- Discounted internet access services
- Federal, state, and local funding that supports school budgets
- Summer EBT benefits for additional food support
Qualifying families are encouraged to fill out the Education Benefits Form.
If you have any questions about the Michigan School Meals Program or completing the application, please contact our Food Service department at (248) 344-3690.
