Attendance:

Call the attendance line at 970-686-8205 if your student is going to be absent. We also encourage you to call the attendance line if you know in advance that your student will be gone. To have your child ready for early pick up during school hours, please call the attendance line to obtain a "Blue Pass".

Are you ready for some football?!! Come and watch the 7th and 8th grade Powder Puff Football teams battle it out on Monday, October 22 starting at 3:30 on the Windsor Middle School football field. Admission fee is $1 with proceeds going to Relay for Life!

Support our Relay for Life fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society. Bring a dollar and you can wear a hat all day at school. See Ms. Baatz before school starts to donate your money and receive a Relay for Life sticker. You must have a sticker to be able to wear your hat.

It's that time of year again! October is Bully Prevention Month and the Weld RE-4 District has partnered with the Arc of Weld County and District 6 to participate in the Bully Prevention Poster Contest. Recognizing outstanding educators in Northern Colorado

Program description: Teacher Tuesday will recognize outstanding educators across Northern Colorado monthly, throughout the school year. Parents, students, and faculty, will nominate and tell their stories how these individuals go above and beyond. Townsquare will select one grand prize winner and five secondary prize winners each month – announced, on-air & online, on the final Tuesday of each month.

Grand prize winners will be surprised at their school with prizes—

· A $500 donation to their school from the University of Northern Colorado

· A year’s worth of FREE pizza from Old Chicago

· A gift certificate to Rodizio Grill, Melting Pot, or Union

· A gift card from The Human Bean

· A FREE game of bowling for all students in the winning teacher’s classroom.

Secondary winners will be announced online and will receive a gift certificate to Rodizio Grill, Melting Pot, or Union. All other nominees will be recognized on our station websites.

WMS will be celebrating "Spirit" Week during the week of October 29 - November 2nd.

The themes for each day will be as follows:

Monday - Crazy Hair day

Tuesday - Color day (6th=red, 7th=blue, 8th=green, staff=black) The grade level with the most participation will win a prize. An all school assembly will be held first thing in the morning.

Wednesday - HALLOWEEN! Costume contests will be held at lunch for each grade level for some awesome prizes. WMS students are allowed to wear costumes on Wednesday. Costumes must meet school dress code, be school appropriate, no blood, no gore, no masks and nothing resembling a weapon. Face paint is allowed, but please keep it to a minimum as we need to be able to recognize your student.

Thursday - Sports day; support your favorite team (Broncos, Rockies, etc)

Friday - Windsor Wizard day; show your school spirit by wearing your favorite Windsor Wizard apparel.

To top off Spirit Week there will be a school event Friday evening...Falloween Bash!

Falloween Bash will be held at Windsor Middle School on Friday, November 2nd from 5:30-7:30 p.m. as a fun way to end "spirit week"!

The evening will include: Games, Raffles, Haunted House, photo booth, Costume Contest as well as food and drinks available for purchase. Come have a spooktacular time!

Cost to get in is $5.00 (or $3.00 with a contribution of two canned food items) The price of admission includes 8 tickets for events at Falloween Bash.

Additional tickets will be given for anyone who would like to donate more cans of food. (1 ticket = 1 can) Otherwise additional tickets can be purchased for $0.50 a piece.

The Weld RE-4 School District is examining school boundaries district wide in an effort to fix imbalances in elementary and middle school populations due to enrollment growth concentrated in certain areas of our district, as well as to create a boundary for the new Severance High School (opening Fall 2019).

Please mark your calendar for the following 2018 public meetings:

• Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00 pm, at Severance Middle School

• Thursday, October 25th at 7:00 pm, at Grandview Elementary School

• Monday, October 29th at 5:30 pm, at Windsor High School

The Weld RE-4 Board of Education is tentatively scheduled to vote on boundary changes in December 2018. Families will receive new boundary information in January 2019. Check the district website for updates.

The holiday season is just around the corner and this year WMS will once again be partnering with many local non-profit agencies to help support those in need. If your family is going through a difficult time financially and may need support or resources this holiday season, please call the school at 970-686-8200 and we will put you in contact with one of our counselors. Many organizations that we work with have deadlines of November 29th, therefore, please contact WMS as soon as possible.

Monday, November 5th & Wednesday, November 7th

6th graders will sign up to meet with their 2nd hour teacher between 3:30 & 7:30 pm. Be on the look-out for documentation coming home soon.

7th & 8th graders will be an open house format with teachers available to meet with parents anytime from 3:30-6:30 pm. Please remember to keep these meetings brief as we will have a lot of folks to see. Teachers will be making phone calls from 6:30-7:30 pm to those parents that they need to touch base with.

Exploratory teachers will also be an open house format with teachers available to meet with parents from 3:30-6:30 pm.
