Heights Highlights
January 2025
Dear Families,
And just like that...we are back! First and foremost, we hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable winter break. There is plenty to look forward to in the new year and new semester! As we begin semester 2, there will be some planned course changes for students as some electives will rotate. We will make sure your Pioneer is ready for the change. Also, if you are the parent or caregiver of an 8th grader, please be aware that EHS and Early College will begin visiting with students later this month to discuss scheduling and opportunities for 9th grade. More info will be sent to all 8th grade families! As always, get engaged and please reach out with any questions!

PBIS Parent Request Form
If you are a caregiver of a Pioneer at Heights and you think that your child needs additional behavior supports/resources, please complete the following survey to get help!
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeSG8530tqrfkXq0jPemSYyFLb172538GQnFV6GCMfeiQd_qg/viewform
Our PBIS expectations are to Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready to Learn. Our expectations are posted throughout the building and in each classroom. Teachers and staff will promote these positive expectations throughout the school day.
Students will earn Petey Bucks daily for a chance to earn prizes. Students will also have the opportunity to get a positive phone calls weekly, quarterly rewards, and consistent celebrations of their success.
We invite you to join us in supporting this work together by discussing our PBIS program at home with your child. Students love to celebrate their hard work and dedication with the adults in their life. We appreciate your positive support of student learning at school and at home.
Cell Phones and Attire
As we begin the new year, we ask that you please review the ECS Code of Conduct with your Pioneer. It outlines the expectations for all ECS students while at Heights. It's been linked below for your convenience. As always, if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our main office.
We often get questions about attire and cell-phones. Hoodies, and similar tops or jackets with hoods, are "fan favorites" when it comes to school attire. We like them, too, but not when they are worn up and over the head during the school day.
The district's Student Code of Conduct provides direction on headgear, stating that it may not be worn over a person's head or scalp (excluding headgear that's worn for religious or medical reasons.) Hoods can make it difficult to identify an individual in an emergency, and they can also be a distraction in class. Please remind students that hoods may not be worn up during the school day.
The Student Code of Conduct also offers guidance on attire. Clothing must be school appropriate and may not present a health or safety hazard or disrupt the educational environment. Pants and tops must fit properly and be in good repair; crop tops are not permitted.
Additionally, footwear must be school appropriate--slippers and slipper socks are not permitted. Blankets also may not be worn in school.
Students may bring their cell phones to school but they must be turned off and put away during the day unless they are used as a part of a teacher-directed lesson in class. Same rules apply to Bluetooth headphones--they may not be worn during the school day.
If you need to reach your student during the school day, please contact the main office and our staff will convey a message or assist you in reaching your student.
