A Message from the Superintendent

May 30, 2024
Dear District 67 Community:
Earlier this month, we shared the news that DPM Assistant Principals Rob Wegley and Jeremy Fischer will depart DPM at the end of the school year for new opportunities in Deerfield and Arlington Heights, respectively.
We are pleased to report that we have completed a comprehensive hiring process to fill the two anticipated openings. Pending District 67 Board approval on June 18, Ms. Carly Harvey and Mr. David Herlocker will join the DPM team as assistant principals when we return to school in August.
Ms. Carley Harvey, DPM 5/6
Ms. Harvey is proudly entering her 18th year in education. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the Erikson Institute in Chicago. Carly began her teaching career with Skokie School District 69 as an elementary teacher. She served on the District’s Behavior Team Committee and established the school’s first K-2 social-emotional initiative. In 2022, with the goal of building a supportive and inclusive culture within schools, Ms. Harvey joined District 67 as an Instructional Coach at Cherokee Elementary. Pending Board approval, Carly will serve DPM as its new 5/6 Assistant Principal.
"I am thrilled to join the Deer Path Middle School community, which I deeply admire,” Carly shared. “Throughout my career and time in District 67, I have been dedicated to fostering student success, supporting our talented educators, and developing a strong sense of belonging for all. I will bring that same enthusiasm and focus to DPM.”
Mr. David Herlocker, DPM 7/8
Mr. Herlocker is completing his 19th year at Community Unit School District 95 in Lake Zurich. Starting his career as a fourth and fifth-grade teacher, Mr. Herlocker participated in the Illinois State Board of Education Rising Star Initiative and District 95’s Strategic Plan Steering Committee. Since 2015, he has been the Assistant Principal at Sarah Adams Elementary School in District 95, where he facilitates a school-wide MTSS system and coordinates MAP, IAR, and other school-wide testing. Mr. Herlocker has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa, a Master of Arts - Elementary Education from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and a Master of Arts - Educational Leadership from Concordia University. David will join DPM as the new 7/8 Assistant Principal, pending Board approval in June.
“I am excited to join this amazing community dedicated to fostering a supportive and inspiring environment for every student and staff member,” David said. “I know that together, we will achieve great things."
Carly and David’s collective experience will be an asset to the DPM community. Together with Dr. Shinn and Mr. Paulsen, they are the right talent at the right time for DPM.
Welcome aboard, Carly and David!
Warm regards,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
