From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
Happy Mother's Day!
We had another successful Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you to our awesome home and school for providing us with breakfast, lunch, snacks and desserts throughout the week. We truly appreciate you showering us with treats!
To report absences and schedueled vacations, please use the School Messenger- the preferred method for parents/guardians to report their child's absence, tardiness, or early departure.
As always, we thank you so much for being a part of the North Wales family!
Warmly,
Ms. Kenney
Principal

Olympic Day Visitor Requirements
To welcome visitors during Olympic Day, which is Friday, May 24th and maintain the safety of North Wales, we would like to prepare visitor badges (name stickers) created through our Raptor Security system. Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 21st at 4pm with the necessary information below if you are planning to observe Olympic Day at any time. The RSVP sign-up will close at 4pm, on May 21st. (If you would like to be permanently placed into our Raptor system, you may also visit the building prior to May 21st and have your license scanned.)
All visitors must RSVP; this form must be completed by every visitor. Every person outside of the students and staff will need to be checked in. If you are volunteering as a classroom helper, you must check-in at the office to get your badge. If you are spectating only, the table to "sign in" will be located on the playground, under the tent on the side of the school. If you come onto the property without having received your badge or checked in, you will be asked to do so immediately.
Literacy Note Of The Week
DIVE INTO READING
Minutes are beginning to add up!. Some classrooms are moving along faster than others. Remember to read every night with your child. Even students in the older grades will benefit from reading to or with a parent. Here is a copy of the weekly reading log if you need a new one.
Students will receive a raffle ticket for every ten minutes they read throughout the week. These tickets are for chances to win one of the twenty-nine raffle baskets or the mystery box! Additionally, if our combined total of reading minutes is 150,000, North Wales’ staff will present the Second Annual Masked Singer during a school-wide assembly.
Cultural Highlights Of The Week
Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
David Oh is a Korean American lawyer and politician, as well as the first Asian American to hold an elected political office in Philadelphia. He was elected to the Philadelphia City Council as a councilmember at-large in 2011, took office in January 2012, was re-elected in November 2015, and began his second term in January 2016.
Jewish American Heritage Month
Louis Brandeis became the first Jewish justice on the United States Supreme Court. His appointment was delayed by months and triggered the first confirmation hearings ever held for a Supreme Court justice. Of the 116 justices who have served on the high court, eight have been Jewish.
Counselor's Corner
Our own North Wales Public Library has lots of stuff for kids/families to do this winter for FREE! (Lego club, Chess club) Plus they have discounted or free passes to all the Philly museums, Elmwood park zoo, arboretums, railroad museum and many more.
