UFLI Foundations 2 Day Training Program
Day 1:
The University of Florida Literacy Institute Essential Background Knowledge training will provide educators with the necessary knowledge to support the development of foundational literacy skills. The session will provide an overview of research on reader development and principles of effective reading instruction and intervention. We then take a closer look at the key foundational reading skills UFLI Foundations addresses: phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge, decoding, encoding, and oral reading fluency. The intended audience for this session includes teachers, interventionists, building leaders, central office staff, literacy leaders. Lunch and coffee will be provided!
Day 2:
The University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) will deliver a comprehensive look at the UFLI Foundations explicit and systematic phonics program. This will include a brief overview of the program, review of essential background knowledge needed for implementation, as well as an overview of the manual and materials needed. Each lesson step will be covered in-depth with an opportunity to practice the newly learned strategies. Finally, there will be a brief overview to progress monitoring and differentiation. The intended audience for this session includes Classroom teachers and interventionists. Lunch and coffee will be provided!

*Participants will choose one registration type which will determine the materials they receive*
- Classroom Teachers: $1,100 Classroom Teachers will receive 1 copy of the UFLI Foundations Teacher Manual as well as a full set of implementation materials for 30 students
- Interventionists: $425 Interventionists will receive 1 copy of the UFLI Foundations Teacher Manual as well as a full set of implementation materials for 6 students
- Coach/Educator Supporting Implementation (Literacy Coach, Other): $250 Participants supporting the UFLI Implementation will receive 1 copy of the UFLI Teacher Manual

UFLI Foundations Implementation Refinement
This session requires previous attendance at UFLI Foundations Implementation Training. This session will cover a refresher of the lesson, a full lesson modeling and debrief session, a deep dive into progress monitoring, supporting small group instruction, and supporting implementation fidelity.

Supporting UFLI Implementation for Principals and Coaches
Join us for a free, interactive three-hour virtual training designed to equip Wayne County Principals, Instructional coaches, and Central Office Administration with the tools to support UFLI implementation in their schools effectively. Led by experts from the University of Florida Literacy Initiative (UFLI), this session will provide practical strategies for guiding teachers, strengthening literacy instruction, and fostering a school-wide culture of reading success.
This training is open to Wayne County coaches and principals whose teachers have participated in UFLI training through WRESA. A special registration code will be provided in May 2025. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance literacy leadership in your school!

Utilizing UFLI for Intervention
Wayne County educators who have completed the two-day foundational UFLI trainings are invited to a free, three-hour virtual session focused on using UFLI to support effective intervention. Led by experts from the University of Florida Literacy Initiative (UFLI), this training will provide practical strategies for strengthening literacy interventions in your school.
This opportunity is open to Wayne County teachers, coaches, and administrators who have participated in Wayne RESA's two-day UFLI Foundations training. Central Office staff are also welcome to attend. A special registration code will be provided in May 2025. Don't miss this chance to deepen your impact on student literacy success!
