Builta School, "We're So Happy You're Here"
Dear Builta Families,
Here are reminder notes about the district wide safety and security procedures during student arrival/dismissal times.
Visiting Procedures During Elementary Arrival/Dismissal
Please note that during arrival (8:45-9:05) and dismissal (3:30-3:50), visitors are not allowed into IPSD 204 school buildings while students are entering or leaving the building.
Staff members will ask adult visitors to wait until arrival or dismissal has been completed and all students are in or out of the building.
Visitors will then need to push the security buzzer for access into the main office.
The exception for this policy is if a visitor has made a pre-scheduled appointment with an office member. Again, in that situation, adult visitors will need to press the security buzzer for entrance into the office.
Following these procedures, allows outdoor supervisors and front office staff to focus on the safe arrival and dismissal of students. The procedures for arrival and dismissal are also posted on the main office doors.
Visiting During the School Day
When family members visit the building during school hours, they should park in the front circle drive and buzz the door at entrance #1. The doors are labeled on the outside.
We ask that visitors state their name and reason for visit. After being buzzed into the building, please head directly into the office.
While it may seem rude, even if other people are approaching behind you, we ask that you please close the door immediately behind you.
The office staff will kindly let the person behind you in when we determine they are here on school business. All other school doors are closed and locked during the school day
I have also included a link from the district website that reviews the security procedures within IPSD 204. The link includes a video from Ron Wilke, District Safety, Security, Emergency Coordinator. https://www.ipsd.org/Page/2738
We have begun practicing our school wide Safety Drills (fire, tornado, bus evacuation and law enforcement). Here is the link to our district letter which notifies families about our district wide safety drill procedures. Parent/Guardian Safety Drill Notification Letter

Last Week/This Week
- Each classroom pulled a blue ticket from the classroom blue ticket jar. Each blue ticket winner was called down to the office to choose an incentive such as a coupon for lunchroom dj, extra recess with a friend, read to a younger classroom, lunch with Ms. Morgan, or game time with a friend. In addition, each classroom puts their blue tickets into the school wide container which goes toward a schoolwide school incentive.
- We held our first tornado drill of the school year. Students did a wonderful job practicing safety practices and following teachers' directions.
