Character Monthly Focus: Grit
- This month at Coolidge Elementary, we're celebrating the power of Grit! Grit means showing courage and determination, even when things get tough. Our students are demonstrating this important character trait every day. They're facing challenges head-on in the classroom and on the playground, and they're persevering with amazing determination. We're incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication! We encourage you to discuss Grit with your children at home. Share stories about times you showed Grit, and help them recognize and celebrate their own gritty moments.

Principal Points
Dear Coolidge Families,
Although a short week, it was a busy week. We had a team of administrators along with Connie Hamilton observing Jackie McPherson our Young 5s teacher. Mrs. McPherson, Mrs. Flannigan and the students shined. We are so lucky to have our Young 5s program at Coolidge.
Grit is the character trait for the month of January. As part of our PBIS program we celebrated 107 High-Paw Champions . Next week, those students will be participating in our January Coolidge Club. The students will be making bracelets next week during their lunch hour.
Enjoy these pictures of our Champions !
Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs. Pierson

Coolidge Drop off and Pick up Procedures
The Loop (Highly Recommended) – The loop can be used for drop off or pick up. Students should remain in their cars until the car has come to a complete stop in the painted half circle area. Please do not let your child out of the car, or wave your child to your car, while you are in any other part of the loop area or driveway. Do not leave the loop area until the vehicle in front of you has left. Please remain alert and ready to move forward with traffic.
The Parking lot - The parking lot can be used for drop off or pick up. Your car should be parked in a parking spot and you will need to walk your child to and from the school doors utilizing only the crosswalk. OUr staff is there to assist you and your child. Your child should NEVER be in the parking lot without you at their side. The ONLY place that parking or sitting is permitted, is in a designated parking space. Parking anywhere else could prevent our buses from coming or going. (Using the loop is easier.)
PTA NEWS AND INFORMATION
Staff Appreciation Special Project
Last years thank you note project was very much appreciated by our amazing Coolidge staff. We are going to work with Mrs. Venable on the project again this year. She will spend the first part of class with a lesson relating to our project and the 2nd half of class we will be helping students write their thank you notes. We have all the supplies needed to complete the project. We are in need of volunteers to help students with spelling/writing/passing out materials. This is a surprise for our staff, so please help to keep it a secret. The project will take place during media center classes the last week of February (2/24-2/28). Please look over the sign up and put your name in any slots you are able to help with. Please reach out to Jenna Kuhn at treasurer@coolidgecougarspta.org if you have any questions. Thank you for your help!!

Save the date!
We are hosting a family skating night at Riverside Arena on Friday 1/31/25 from 5:30-7:30pm. Admission is $8 and includes standard skate rental. Premium or inline skate rentals are an additional $3. Food is also available for an additional fee. We hope to see you there!
Movie Night
Our Friday movie night was quite successful! We have been asked if we can host another one by families. We are open to having another one in February but we cannot run these events without the help of volunteers. If anyone is interested in helping host a movie night in February please reach out to Jenna Kuhn at treasurer@coolidgecougarspta.org. Help is mostly just needed for bagging popcorn in advance and then set up/clean up the day of the event. If there are a couple volunteers who can help, we can begin planning one for February.
If you have questions about anything related to the PTA, please use our website coolidge.givebacks.com You will find a calendar of events with our upcoming events, all volunteer sign ups, fundraising information and PTA meeting information. If you have any suggestions or ideas for events or activities, please join us at one of our meetings.
