Recently, a cross-grade group of Redington students reviewed and debated what "dispositions" would ideally define a learner in our school. The group of 6-12th grade students developed the following list of descriptors THEY believe are the most important characteristics of a Redington Husky:

• Communication (NOVEMBER)

• Adapatable (DECEMBER)

• Self-Discipline and Self-Managing
• Grit and Resilience
• Cooperative
• Attentive
• Respectful
• Optimistic

If you observe your student (or any Redington student) personifying these character attributes, please call them out! Each month at Redington, we intend to focus on a single disposition - during the month of December we will be focusing on Adaptability.

Congratulations to our November Call Outs! The focus disposition for last month was Communication. These individuals were called out by staff members who recognized that they have gone above and beyond communicating with others as we navigate the busy end of the semester We are proud of you - Kelsey Keene, Fearce Martinez, and Iselin Swalling!

ALL high school student athletes must maintain a 2.0GPA (underclassmen passing 5 classes, Seniors on track to graduate passing 4 classes) to be eligible to compete. Grade checks will be conducted at the beginning of the season and again in January after Semester I grades are published.

Please remember that as temperatures drop, send your students to school wearing warm winter gear! If your family has need for appropriate winter clothing, please contact Nurse Draper at 907-864-5405 or email meccala.draper@matsuk12.us.

Through the teenage years and into early adulthood, we are still learning how to create healthy relationships and care for our well-being. For most adolescents, social media will play a role in developing life skills. Surveys show that 95% of teens and 84% of young adults use social media.

Social media can be an avenue to express yourself, connect, learn, and share. Social media is not entirely bad, but there are dangers. This post will review 15 common dangers of social media for adolescents, plus how to reduce or avoid these dangers.
