CVU Celebrations
November 15, 2024
Dear CVU Community,
We are coming to the close of our fall season. It’s been a very successful one! We have 6 state champions won and the fall performance kicking off tonight and running through Sunday afternoon. Congratulations to all of our fall sports athletes and performers. We recognize the hard work, dedication and time that’s gone into the commitment to your team and cast. The friendships made and life lessons learned these past few months will stay with you long after the season or show ends.
Thank you also to our coaches, directors and parents for your guidance and expertise in support of our students.
Student Council Corner
Hello CVU! This is Mira. This week in Student Council we broke into usual groups. The Turkey Trot group finished up some last minute details, solidifying food donations, prizes and other race day logistics. It is still not too late to sign up. You can do so with this link! Do not hesitate to sign up, everyone is completely welcome to run, jog, walk or trot. The CVU Talent Show group reached out to faculty members, asking some to judge the competition. The Gratitude Week and anti-bullying campaign groups were both in their beginning stages, brainstorming ideas and planning initial steps. More news on those two groups to come! Additionally, come see the CVU musical this weekend, to see me, Mira, acting and Ariel rocking percussion in the pit!

Congratulations to our football state champions! They won in dominating fashion on Saturday in St. Johnsbury in front of a raucous and fun crowd of Redhawks who made the trip and braved the cold.
From Brad Miller: On Tuesday morning, CVU and Harwood Union’s Harkness Leadership groups had a meeting of the minds in the Harwood library. It was tremendously impressive to see these 10th-11th graders unpack a complex text led completely by their peers. CVU will be repaying the favor and hosting the Harwood students next month.
From Leanne Morton: The CVU Class of 2026 and the Volunteer Outreach Club need your help! We are stocking the local food shelves in our district this weekend and all next week. Please send in dry goods and/or paper products to support our community. We will have a drop off table this weekend at CVU's performance of Footloose for donations. We also will be accepting items all next week in House Offices. We are thankful for you and your support of our communities.
Senior Drew Farmer visited HCS Lego League Robotics teams at Hinesburg Community School to share her presentation about Coral Reef Restoration and share her marine life encounters which she experienced during her RISE trip to the Bahamas. The Lego League club at HCS are researching a challenge related to problems faced by those exploring the oceans.
Drew's presentation included photos and a video from her trip, offering a firsthand look at the coral reef restoration efforts. It was incredibly insightful and provided valuable information that greatly assisted the HCS LEGO Robotics team with their research. Drew also took the time to answer questions from the teams, further enriching their understanding of the challenges involved in ocean exploration and conservation.
From John Bennett: CVU's Scholars Bowl team was back in action on Tuesday, November 12 at a regional meet at BFA St. Albans High School. Despite missing some key members, our varsity went 5-0, winning all matches decisively. Our B team, also with some new players, went 3-2. This brings our varsity record to 13-2 this season. Playing for CVU on Tuesday included the following: 12th grade Leo Elder, Zoe Mui, Wylie Ricklefs, Nolan Sandage, 11th grade Jack Daly, Leah Rauch, Grace Warrington, 10th grade Meredith Golek, Zephyr Haines.
Scholars Bowl will next be in action right here at CVU on Thursday, November 21, when we will be hosting a meet against other Chittenden County schools. Matches will get started around 4:15 pm if anyone is interested. Thanks again to Kiran MacCormick for his usual great assistance!

Snichols Love!
From Jessica O'Brien: Every year in Core Time ninth grade students are provided with a common reading experience that helps them to discover shared community values with support from the library and other invested faculty and staff. This year Nichols and Snelling are incredibly lucky to have Core Time at the same time, so for all of Q2 Nichols and Snelling students have formed small book clubs to read the novel The Field Guide to the North American Teenager by Ben Philippe.
The book deals with content and themes students face in high school, and Snichols students will be creating their own field guides as they compare and contrast Norris's experience with their own.
From Meredith Visco: Today in Women in Sports club students made new inspirational posters to provide aspiration for students in the locker room.
Friday's Vibe!
