A Note from the Office
Greene Families
We shouldn't yell in school....but the echo through the halls when we announced outdoor recess on Thursday was AWESOME. As a reminder, if the windchill is above 20 degrees we will head outside.
Speaking of adjusting for the weather, on Friday we opened the doors at 7:20am to see if that made traffic flow more easily--which it did! When there is inclimate weather and students will not be biking or walking (heavy rain, freezing temperatures, a foot of snow), we will continue to open the doors early.
A HUGE thanks to a group of 6th graders who designed a tour and led partners from the City of Blue Ash around the building and shared what it is like to be a student at Greene. They were nominated by their teams, didn't have previous leadership opportunities, and absolutely impressed our guests. We look forward to more opportunities for students to highlight their experiences and participate in authentic learning opportunities. Mrs. Constable did a great job of EMPOWERING the students, and they rose to the challenge!
There is no school tomorrow to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As a former history teacher I would love to share more about his impact and legacy to a group of students, but will merely add a quote, "Everybody can be great because anybody can serve."
And for those who are staying up late Monday watching the football game, "O-H"!
Thanks!
Mr. Cole, Mrs. Constable and Mrs. Moss

CogAT Result Information
"Curious about CogAT results for your student? The District will begin notification to families who have newly qualified for gifted based upon the winter CogAT assessment in February via email. On Friday, January 17th at 4:00 pm families will receive the Narrative Profile Report from the winter CogAT administration in their ebackpack. In March/April the District will then notify families via email in what subject area students have qualified. Students who are identified in this window will not change course placement until the 2025-26 school year."
Cold Weather Reminder!
As we continue into winter, please keep the following in mind to help ensure a smooth and safe start to your student’s day:
Morning Drop-Off: Our school doors open at 7:30 AM. Riding the bus is the easiest way to start the day and avoid morning drop-off congestion. If there is inclimate weather, we will open the doors at 7:20am.
Recess Guidelines: If the wind chill is above 20°F, students will go outside for recess. Please remind your student to dress in layers and come to school prepared for the weather.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and warm!

Junior High Information
Junior High Choir Auditions
The Sycamore Junior High choirs are looking to add many amazing 6th graders to their choirs next year. Students do not have to be in choir this year to participate in choir at the Junior High. Deborah Stein and Jesse Callahan, SJH choir directors, will be visiting our 6th grade choir and General Music classes in the next couple of weeks to provide more information and audition the students. Interested 6th grade students who are NOT in general music/choir this year should audition on Thursday, January 30th from 3:00-3:30 in the General Music Room at EH Greene. This is a stress free audition with no singing experience required. Students should have transportation to pick them up at 3:30. You may email Mrs. Stein (steind@sycamoreschools.org) or Mr. Callahan (callahanj@sycamoreschools.org) if you have any additional questions. Watch THIS VIDEO to see some of the fun things kids can look forward to in JH choir.
Message from the Junior High
Dear 6th Grade Families,
I hope this email finds you well! I am excited to invite you to our 6th Grade Parent Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday, February 12th, at Sycamore Junior High. This meeting is designed to help you and your child prepare for the transition into Junior High and to provide important information as we look ahead to next school year.
During the evening, we will discuss several key topics, including an overview of the scheduling process for rising 7th graders, our building expectations, and an introduction to the junior high experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet our counseling and administrative team, who will be here to provide support and answer any questions you may have.
We strongly encourage all 6th grade families to attend this informative session, as it will help ensure a smooth and successful transition for your child.
We look forward to seeing you on February 12th at 6:30pm in our new theatre.
A note from the Nurse
Attention: Parents of 6th Grade Students
Two immunizations are required by the state of Ohio (ORC 3313.67) before the start of 7th grade. Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis booster) and Meningitis (MCV4). Your child may already have had them at their 11 year old check up. If so please obtain a copy of those immunizations. If not, please make an appointment for your student to get these two immunizations. Once you have obtained copies of TDAP and MCV4, send them to Lucy Gruen RN at Sycamore Junior High. Thank you!
