About the Pathway
The 7-12 CS Praxis Prep Pathway helps educators prepare for the Pennsylvania 7-12 Computer Science (CS) Certification Exam (Praxis exam 5652) via an online, self-paced course. The Pathway engages educators in activities to develop foundational CS content area knowledge and skills via the online We_Teach CS program.
As a result of the Pathway, LEAs will have a CS-certified educator to offer a standards-aligned middle or high school CS course.

Pathway Eligibility & Expectations
This Pathway is open to Pennsylvania 7-12 educators who are teaching or will soon be teaching Computer Science courses.
To participate, educators must commit to meeting these expectations:
- Successfully complete the We_Teach online course (passing all module quizzes and final quiz with a score of 80% or higher)
- Attend online half hour Kickoff Session**
- Attend five half hour online Check-in Sessions**
- Register for, complete, and pass the PA 7-12 CS certification exam (Praxis 5652)
**As part of the new 7-12 Pathway each participant will be required to attend an online half hour kick off session and five online half hour check in session.
Winter/Spring Cohort
Pathway registration for Winter cohort is now open till 12/31/24. Attend online half hour Kickoff Session on January 13, 2024. The Pathway ends on June 30, 2025.

Pathway FAQs
Is Act 48 credit available?
Yes! Participants that complete all Pathway expectations will be awarded 70 Act 48 clock hours. Must complete course along with taking the Praxis exam. Partial credit is not available.
What does this cost?
**There is NO cost to register for and participate in the Pathway. Participants must pay for their Praxis exam registration ($130); however, we offer full reimbursement for qualifying educators.
New Stipend Opportunity!
In addition to the reimbursement program as an educator and once you pass and apply for PA 7-12 Computer Science certification, you are now eligible to also receive a $400 stipend. Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, this temporary program acknowledges the effort required to obtain this certification and honors your role in expanding CSinPA.
To apply for the stipend and or reimbursement, submit the following documentation using the CSinPA 7-12 CS certification and exam survey. Select “I took the exam & completed this form already. I am re-submitting it because of the reimbursement program and to receive stipend.” on the first page to navigate directly to the section 5 for reimbursement documentation and check the box also for the stipend program in this section too. This will direct you to documentation needed for stipend program.

1:1 virtual, peer tutoring is available (no cost!) with a PA educator who took the Praxis Prep course and passed the Praxis exam. Click here for more information.
7-12 CS Praxis Prep Live Workshop Series
The 7-12 CS Praxis Prep Workshop Series^ will help PA 7-12 educators prepare for the 7-12 Computer Science (CS) Certification Exam (Praxis exam 5652), which is a requirement for the PA 7-12 CS certification.
The workshop series consists of four full-day sessions covering fundamental code-based topics included in the 7-12 CS Praxis exam.
