Veterans Day Assembly
We will host our annual Veterans Day Assembly, Monday, November 11 at 9:00AM in the High School Event Center. The community is welcome to attend. Visitors should park in the Event Center Parking lot by the football stadium and enter the building through the Event Center doors. Students may get a pass from the main office to attend with family members that are currently serving in the military or are veterans. The event will be live-streamed. Refreshments will be served to veterans following the ceremony.
The JHS Marching Chiefs will perform in the Veterans Day Parade, Monday, November 11 at 4:00PM in Uptown Jackson.
Our annual tribute to veterans will play on the JHS Marquee from November 4 to November 17. If you have a veteran that you would like showcased, please submit their military photo and name to ebrewer@jr2mail.org.
Picture Retakes
Cheekwood will be here Monday, November 11 from 11:15-3:00PM to do picture retakes for any student that needs them. Cheekwood will send proofs via email and you can place your order online.
Hope 4 Christmas
Jackson High School is collecting family appropriate board games and card games to donate to the Jackson R-2 Hope 4 Christmas event that benefits children and families in the Jackson R-2 School District. If you would like to donate a game, please send it to the main office before November 22! If you are interested in adopting a family or would like more information on this event, please contact our school Social Worker, Laura Baugh, 243-9513
Silver Arrow Dance
The Silver Arrow Dance will be held Saturday, December 7 from 7-10 PM in the HS Event Center. The cost is $15/student. This is a formal dance. Males are encouraged to wear a suit or tux. Females are encouraged to wear full length formal dresses, but please refrain from white dresses, as that is reserved for students who made Silver Arrow Court. Students are not allowed to wear hats or jeans.
All students who invite an out-of-school guest must fill out a permission form and turn it in completed to the main office by Wednesday, December 4 at 3:00PM. Forms are available outside of the main office.
Tickets will be on sale on Monday, November 11 at 7:00AM through Friday, December 6 at 11:59PM.
Students must be in good standing to attend dances. Students failing two or more classes will be placed on Admin Probation and will not be allowed to attend school dances or events. Students that have been suspended out of school for discipline reasons may not be allowed to attend school sponsored dances and events.
Formal Dancewear Donation Drive
Student Council is organizing a drive to collect formal dresswear for students.

Students may "SHOP" the formal wear on Sunday, November 17 from 1:00-3:00PM in the JHS Commons outside the Event Center. Students can also get a pass to shop during Advisory on 11/18 and 11/21 from Ms. Miller (Room C28)
Jackson Opportunities in Business Event
JHS will host Jackson Chamber of Commerce Businesses on Wednesday, November 20 for students to learn more about local businesses and connect with business leaders. Students will hear a short presentation to get tips on how to best present themselves to employers (firm handshakes, eye contact, good questioning techniques, and more). Students will get to practice these skills by talking to business leaders! Last year, this was a huge success and some even walked away with job opportunities.
Final Exams

12/18: RED DAY - Final Exams (1st, 3rd, & 5th Hours)
12/19: BLACK DAY - Final Exam Review
12/20: BLACK DAY - Final Exams (2nd, 4th, 6th & 8th Hours)
Students are required to be in attendance for final exams unless given prior approval by administration. If your child must miss one of these days, please speak to their principal as soon as possible. Final exam make-ups will be done over winter break on December 23 and January 2 from 8-12PM each day.

Each term, staff members are able to choose one student to celebrate. Students may be chosen for excellence, improvement, behavior, or citizenship. Term 1 students were recognized in advisory on October 3 and received a certificate and snack!

Ways for Students to get Help with their Classwork
Advisory Mods: Every Advisory period students may get help from their teachers or take assessments during our Mod times. We have two 30 min mods on these days to allow students time to get help from multiple teachers.
Success Center: Success Center is an after school tutoring program in the library from 3:00-5:00, Monday - Thursday. Students do not have to sign up. There are certified teachers able to help students who attend. Though we have a calendar with specific subjects for different days, students may get help on all of their classes at this time. Students may also make up tests/quizzes during this time.

Tuesday: Math
Wednesday: ELA
Thursday: Math
Collaboration: Each collaboration we have a room available for students to make up tests and quizzes. Students can speak to their teachers ahead of time to make sure the test/quiz is accessible at this time.
ICU time 5th Hour Wednesdays: Every collaboration Wednesday, 5th hour is extended by 25 minutes for students to work on their assignments. They may ask their teacher for help during this time.
