Meal Order
Below you will find the form to complete before Monday morning at 7:30am for ordering breakfast and lunch for your student/s. Click on the button and help your child make their food choices for the week. Thank you
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we’re nearing the end of the school year! When we return from spring vacation, we’re in the final stretch and the pace seems to quicken.
The 4th/5th graders are very busy these days between preparing for Exhibition and beginning rehearsal for A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play is cast and we are ready to go.
Volunteer luncheon -Each year we have a luncheon to honor you for your contributions to the school community and your child’s education. Thank you. I hope you will be able to join us Thursday, May 2, 11:20. The menu options are Turkey Tetrazzini, Broccoli Alfredo or a Sunbutter and Jelly sandwich. The cost of lunch is $5 per adult and free for children of all ages. Please send an email to Samantha sfarrellschmitt@acsdvt.org letting her know if you would like to attend and what menu option you have chosen. Payment can be received on the day.
Reminder: extra set of clothes - For all students, K-5, please be sure they have an extra set of clothes at school. This comes in handy for lots of reasons and right now the playground is often very wet! While we have extra clothes, it works best/most efficiently for students if they have their own clothes to change into. Also, please help your child remember that they need to bring/wear sneakers for P.E. on Tuesday and Friday.
After school Capoeira! - FOWE is sponsoring a 5 week program with Professor Fua on Wednesdays—May 8th through June 5th, 2:45 - 4:15. This is open to all students with all costs covered by FOWE. Thanks go to Jamie McCallum for organizing this. Please see attached permission form which includes emergency contact and pickup information.
Gardening at Weybridge - Chris Eberly is interested in getting a summer gardening program going at the school. We’re trying to gauge interest and availability for planning, planting and maintaining gardens over the summer. Hopefully we can supply some fresh vegetables and herbs for the meals program. Please contact Chris chris.eberly@gmail.com or me if you would like to explore this idea and create a plan for making it happen.
On another note, if you have time to do a bit of spring weeding and sprucing up in the flower gardens around the school, it would be greatly appreciated. I noticed that someone had done some work in the peace garden. Thank you.
Lunch volunteers - Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly here if you can help with lunch prep and service, 11:00-12:00 between now and the end of the school year. Even one day helps. Thanks.
Have a wonderful spring break. Christina
Thank you to FOWE for the school T-shirts for everyone!
Volunteering in our schools!
Parents and caregivers: If you’re interested in volunteering for end-of-year activities and field trips, now is the time to register to volunteer! It takes a few weeks for background checks, so please start the process now with this volunteer form to ensure you’re approved. If you think you might already be registered, contact the administrative assistant at your school or email thuestis@acsdvt.org to double check. Once you are approved, you will be emailed at the beginning of each school year to remain an active volunteer.
Volunteer with the Weybridge conservation commission
Are you a resident of Weybridge? Do you care about protecting and enhancing the natural environment? Do you want to connect with neighbors who feel the same? The Weybridge Conservation Commission (WCC) is seeking new members/volunteers and would love to hear from you. The WCC acts as a voice for conservation in the town of Weybridge, serving the Selectboard and residents on matters relating to land and natural resource conservation, and making recommendations for use of the Town Conservation Fund. The WCC meets once per month at the Town Office or on Zoom.
If you're interested but aren't sure you can commit to joining monthly meetings, the WCC would be happy to help match you with an engagement activity that meets your interests and availability. To learn more, reach out to Alison Nurok at alison.nurok@gmail.com, Gioia Kuss at gioiakk@gmail.com, or Carolyn Weir at carolyn.f.weir@gmail.com.
