Social Worker Survey
As we continue to work toward improving our school social work program, we ask that stakeholders complete this survey. This year, we are offering a parent/caregiver survey. Please help us by completing the Parent/Caregiver Survey at your earliest convenience. The survey is VERY short and should take less than 5 minutes to complete. Survey results are confidential, and responses will be used to create program goals for the upcoming year. Please complete the survey by December 20, 2024.
The purpose of the survey is twofold:
1. To gather perception data about the role of the school social worker within the school building
2. To gather perception data regarding each social worker’s visibility, responsiveness, and availability.
HERE is the link to the PARENT/CAREGIVER survey.
Inclement Weather Days
Most of us aren't ready to begin thinking about snow but if bad weather, temperatures or road conditions make it unsafe for students to get to school, it's important to be prepared. Everything you need to know about AMI days and snow days can be found on the Park Hill School District website below.

Upcoming Webinar:
A Potentially Deadly Intersection: Social Media, Substance Use, and Mental Health
The next webisode of the Park Hill Family Webinar Series is entitled A Potentially Deadly Intersection: Social Media, Substance Use, and Mental Health. It will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 6:00-7:00 PM.
Social media is a permanent fixture in our world and while there are positive aspects to it, there are also negative and potentially deadly effects related to the connection with substance use and mental health.
Parents, caregivers, teachers, and trusted adults need to be aware of those effects and work to address risk and protective factors around the intersection. This session will discuss emerging data related to the intersection of the three topics, as well as delve into strategies and solutions to help build positive relationships, have healthy conversations, and protect our young people.
Our presenter is Rikki Barton, founder and lead consultant for Onward Consulting. Read her full bio and register for the event by clicking here.
You can view past webisodes and see what’s coming up in future ones by visiting the Student and Family Support page (scroll down to Mental Health and Healthy Living, then expand the Family Webinar Series section).
We hope you can join us for this important topic!

DISMISSAL
Daily Dismissal Procedures
Your child's teacher will reach out to confirm your child's daily dismissal plan. Please communicate any changes to this plan, as they arise, throughout the school year to ensure that your child gets home safely each day.
BUS RIDERS: Bus riders are dismissed through the north doors (by the gym) each afternoon. Classroom teachers walk students to the buses and help them find the appropriate bus. During the first few days, this process can take a bit longer than normal as staff members double check that all students are on the correct bus. Then, the bus can get further delayed as the drivers take time to make sure students safely get off at the right stop.
If your child is a bus rider you will be able to access bus information in your parent portal on the morning of Monday, August 12th.
ADVENTURE CLUB: Students who participate in the after-school care program, Adventure Club, will be dismissed directly to the cafeteria. Adventure Club staff checks in each student and cross-checks with our front office to ensure that all students who are enrolled in Adventure Club are accounted for at dismissal.
WALKERS: Walkers will be dismissed through the K/1 Pod doors and can meet their families near the baseball field south of the playground. Students who don't have a parent/guardian meeting them at school, will be accompanied to the corner of Chariton and 81st Street by a staff member who will make sure they cross safely.
While the car rider line will be slow the first few days, once students and families learn the routine, it will speed up considerably. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding that our main focus is on all students getting into cars safely. Parents can help by staying in your vehicle and allowing staff members to assist students into cars and teaching your child how to buckle their own seat belt.
PLEASE NOTE: We just received information that they plan to close Childress @ Barry Rd. at some point in the coming weeks. Since we don't know WHEN that is happening, it is difficult to communicate a clear plan at this time. When the time comes we will send updated dismissal information. Thank you in advance for your patience.
