Important Changes to Math Courses for the 2024/25 School Year
We are implementing some changes to math courses for the 2024/25 school year. The following changes will be coming:
In 2024/25, Integrated Math 3 (INT3) will be replaced by a new course, College Math III. This course is offered with concurrent college credit (optional) in College Algebra from NNU.
In 2025/26, Precalculus will be replaced by a new course, College Trigonometry. This course is offered with concurrent college credit (optional) in College Trigonometry from NNU.
TVMSC will offer Calculus AB/BC in 2024/25. Calculus AB will not be offered as a standalone course.
These changes are being made district-wide, and present new opportunities for students to earn college credit in mathematics while ensuring that they are rigorously prepared for success in STEM mathematics, while removing much of the tedious repetition of material between Integrated Math 3 and Precalculus.
Students in INT2 last year should take College Math III this year. In future years they will take College Trigonometry and Calculus AB/BC.
Students in INT3 last year should take Pre-calculus this year. In the future they will take Calculus AB/BC.
Students in Pre-Calculus last year will take Calculus AB/BC at TVMSC this year.
If you took any math class during summer school, please check with your math teacher that you are now placed in the right math course.
Boise Schools is working with a local university to offer Summer School College Math III and College Trigonometry that are up to the college-level standards starting in Summer 2025. Since College Trig will not be offered until 2025/26, if you took College Algebra this summer from a local college, you will be placed in pre-calculus.
Should you have any further questions or require additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are committed to supporting your student's educational journey in every possible way. If you would like to preview the textbook for College Math III, we will be using College Algebra 2E published by Rice University.
