Principal's Message
I hope that everyone enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend-I can’t believe that it is December! As the weather continues to be unpredictable this time of year, I want to publish our outdoor recess policy which is outlined on page 15 of our student/parent handbook.
RECESS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION All students are expected to participate in recess and physical education. The students will go outside, except during inclement weather, and should dress appropriately (coat, hat, gloves, etc.). The schools will use the following guidelines: If the temperature with wind chill is at or above 20 degrees, students will have outdoor recess. On days when your child has PE, he/she must wear regular athletic style shoes which tie or fasten with Velcro. Those students not in athletic shoes will not participate in physical education. Girls need to wear shorts or slacks. If, due to injury or illness, a student cannot participate in recess and/or PE, parents must send a note (provided in the back of this handbook). If the student’s participation is restricted for more than five (5) school days, a note form a doctor must be sent to school.
We need your help to ensure mask wearing in our school! Please make sure your children are wearing masks that fit properly and are snug across the bridge of noses. In addition, please make sure that your child has a mask on when they get on the bus or out of the car in the morning. Just like last year, I’m asking parents to put an extra mask and a change of clothes in backpacks. Please keep your children home if they are experiencing the following symptoms:
· Headache
· Fever/chills
· Loss of taste/smell
· Cough
· Sore throat
· Shortness of breath
· Sinus congestion
· Fatigue
· Nausea/diarrhea
· Muscle/body aches
This will be our last school newsletter of 2021! We appreciate all of your support, cooperation and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenging times!
On behalf of all of Sycamore staff, have a SAFE and RELAXING winter break.
