Rochester Memorial Minute
Sunday, January 26, 2025

Thanks to Mrs. Audette, music teacher, our students were able to showcase their talent at the Providence Bruins game last Sunday. Our chorus students shined on the ice while singing the National Anthem and they did an outstanding job. What an amazing opportunity for our chorus students to experience. In addition, there were many teachers and families present to support our students. It was a fun school community event and the Providence Bruins won the game. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our RMS students.

Bullying and Harassment Prevention and Intervention Plan
Bullying and Harassment Plan Feedback
There will be an open forum on January 29th from 4:30-5:30pm in the Media Center at the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School.
The Old Rochester Regional School District and MA Superintendency Union #55 is working to update their Bullying and Harassment Prevention and Intervention Plan. Each school district, charter school, non-public school, Department-approved private special education school, and collaborative school must create a Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan (Plan) that prohibits bullying, cyberbullying, and retaliation. The Plan is to include information on reporting, notice to parents and guardians, notice to law enforcement as necessary, and counseling strategies and procedures for creating safety plans for victims. Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plans must be updated every other year (See M.G.L. c. 71, § 37O, added by Chapter 92 of the Acts of 2010.) When developing the Plan, school districts, charter schools, Department-approved private special education schools, and collaborative schools must give notice and provide for a public comment period.
The Old Rochester Regional School District and MA Superintendency Union #55 is seeking the public's feedback on the draft, proposed Bullying and Harassment Prevention and Intervention Plan. Please provide any feedback on this Google Form here by January 31, 2025.
Nurse Murphy Update
Dear RMS Families,
I am seeing an uptick of confirmed cases of Influenza A here at RMS, Influenza A is the most common of the flu viruses.
Symptoms include:
- Fever
Cough
Runny or stuffy nose
Fatigue
Headache
Sore throat
Body aches
Chills
Diarrhea or vomiting (more common in children)
I am seeing students present with fevers and headaches as their chief complaints.
Prevention:
· If you are sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
· Good Handwashing
· Cover coughs and sneezes
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
· Get a Flu vaccine
When is it okay to return to school and work?
ORR District Policy (aligned with the CDC) recommends that people stay home, for at least 24 hours, until your symptoms are getting better overall, and you have not had fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours.
If you have any questions, please reach out.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Murphy, R.N.
