Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week! Just a reminder that due to Thanksgiving Recess, next Wednesday will be an early dismissal for students. We will also be holding our first PBIS Pep Rally on Wednesday! Students are asked to wear their team colors that day. They will be receiving points towards our end-of-the-year reward for representing their team. They can wear any item of clothing or accessory to count towards points for their team (i.e. shirts, socks, sneakers, bracelets, hair accessories, etc). The following are the Team Colors:
6th Grade = Red
7th Grade = Green
8th Grade = Purple
We are looking forward to a great event and would like to thank the PTO for their support of this event and the PBIS Committee!Best,

A Look Into Our Panther Community
Positive Office Referrals
Below are students who have received Positive Office Referrals for their behaviors that have exemplified our PBIS pillars of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Pride. Students were able to choose a reward from our menu of options like eating outside with friends or prizes that we have. Great job!
8th Graders
Gianna Jarzabek, Meadow Hart, Brooke Bellemare, Kayleigh Philbrick, Reagan Moquin, Emily Baer, Jacob Armitage, Mason Tierney, Ryan Flannery, Aloma Johnson
Seventh-grade students began their writing unit focused on writing about reading. To kick off the unit, they explored the mentor text “The Stolen Party.” After reading, students collaborated to create visuals that reflected their interpretations and analyses of the text. These visuals included power maps, character pressure webs, and scene sketches, showcasing their deep engagement with the story.
This week, eight grade math students began exploring and comparing proportional relationships with non-proportional relationships, focusing specifically on linear relationships. As part of their investigation, they participated in a stacking cup activity to examine the key differences and similarities between linear and proportional relationships. The class is now shifting focus to linear relationships, and students will begin making connections between the rate of change in these relationships and the slope of the line.
Our 8th graders went to a Wolf Pack game this week! Pictured is Mr. Shilansky and Mrs. Mercaldi with the Wolf!
There is still time to purchase online from a list of over 3,000 titles. Online purchases are extended to November 24th and directly benefit EHMS. Scholastic is offering a 25% discount on select items during this time period, as well.
EHHS 8th Grade Parent Night
East Hampton Middle School held an informational Parent Night for 8th grade families this week. Below is a copy of the presentation for those unable to attend.
7th Grade students participating in Project O had their second trip this week. Students literally and figuratively got their hands wet as they investigated the living and non-living components of Long Island Sound! Students studied living organisms in the stern of the boat by hauling a trawl net, doing a plankton tow, pulling a lobster pot, and sorting through a mud grab

Nurse's Corner
Friendly reminders from your school nurse:
*School field trips are starting to pop up! Please make sure I have your child's medication/s in the health office so that they may participate.
*There are lots of germs going around right now so please remember to keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Even if it's just for the morning so you can reevaluate and send them to school if they have improved. Reminder that you should be fever-free for 24 hours to return to school WITHOUT fever reducing medication. Students must be able to keep food and fluids down (without vomiting or diarrhea) in order to return.
Thank you for your continued support!
Attendance Reminder
Per the East Hampton Board of Education’s Attendance Policy and Connecticut statute, parents and guardians may only approve the first 9 absences of the school year with a parent note. Absences 10 and above can only be excused with further documentation and under specific circumstances.
In addition, if a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )
