MVMS Family Update

Grade update day is today, November 22nd. All teachers have their grades up to date on Progressbook. This is a good time to talk to your student about their progress and set goals for the remainder of 2nd quarter.

There is no school from November 27th - December 2nd for Thanksgiving break. We will welcome students back to school on Tuesday, December 3rd. Enjoy your time with family and friends!

Food for the Hungry for Knox County is running next week for 6th grade. Information will be sent home with students on Monday. Starting next week, we are asking 6th grade students to bring in non-perishable food items and monetary donations to their first period teacher.

We have extended the turn in to first period on Monday!

For those that ordered from our cookie dough fundraiser, orders are to be picked up on December 9th from 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM.

Students will attend the Champions of Character basketball game at MVNU on November 26th at MVNU from 11 AM to 1 PM. Students will eat lunch before attending the game.

The Jacket Closet initiative at Mount Vernon Middle School aims to support students in need by providing a safe space where they can access essential items such as school supplies, clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene products, all free of charge. Catering to a diverse student body, with 45% qualifying for free and reduced lunch, the program seeks to address the high demand for resources by accepting donations of gently used and new items, in sizes ranging from Youth Medium to Adult XL, as well as non-perishable food items. The school is committed to enhancing the well-being of its students and their families through this vital support system.

Homework help is an after school opportunity for students to receive additional help completing assignments and takes place in the Library most Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4 pm. Bussing is available to Columbia, Knox Learning Center, East Elementary, Pleasant Street Elementary, and Dan Emmett Elementary. Come prepared to work and stay on top of your assignments this school year.

At MVMS we use multiple forms of communication to keep you "in the know" of what is happening at our school. Parent updates like this one are sent at least every other week and are posted through our social media sites as well as through our website and instant alerts.
