April 2025 PTO Newsletter

The Fundraising Committee is hard at work putting together items for our live and silent auctions. We are NOT having parents put together class baskets this year, but everyone can still help to make this fundraiser a success! We rely on our families and community to donate items such as:

• Sporting event tickets
• Restaurant gift cards
• Vouchers for appealing experiences or services such as massages & spa treatments, lessons and camps, tastings and tours, etc.
• Items valued at $50 or more, such as signed memorabilia, artwork, designer goods, gift baskets, etc.

In order to make our Havana Nights event successful, we need your help! The Fundraiser Committee will need volunteers to help with set-up, check-in, and games! Please consider volunteering for a small part of the evening!

Q: What are we fundraising for?

A: The Eldorado PTO is committed to bolstering our school community by securing funding for paraeducator and support staff hours. Additionally, we use a portion of our budget to address maintenance and facility needs not met by the district.

Q: What can I expect on the night of the event? Will there be entertainment?

A: The Spring Social & Fundraiser is a community-building events that allows parents and staff to get together for a night of fun! The entertainment will include:

• a live DJ
• Poker tables
• a wine pull
• a prize drawing

• a brief live auction
• a photo station
• a Best Dressed contest
• dancing!

Q: What about food and drinks?

A: We will have a spread of Cuban bites, and you can get beer, wine, or our signature drink with your drink tickets or credit card at the cash bar.

Q: Are kids invited?

A: Not this time! This is the one adults-only event of the year. Enjoy a night out!

Q: What is the dress code?

A: Feel free to come in your casual vacation wear, like flip-flops, shorts, and a tropical shirt, or come dressed for a night out in the clubs of Havana!

Q: Can I bring guests?

A: Absolutely! Any of your friends or family who are age 21 and up are welcome to join the fun ans support our school!

Q: Why didn’t you ask us to make or give money for Class Baskets this year?

A: We decided to simplify the way that most families contribute to the Spring Fundraiser. This year, each class will take part in a good old-fashioned competition to earn a pizza party and gift card for their teacher! Read below to learn more!

Q: How will the auctions work?

A: Our online silent auction will open on April 19th for browsing and bidding. It will end at 8:30 p.m. on April 26th, during the Fundraiser. However, this year we have turned on a special bid extension feature for listings that are hotly contended, which will allow bids to continue up to one hour past the auction ending as long as new bids are being made within 5 minutes of each other.

Our live auction will include a small selection of unique and/or high value items. These items can be previewed in our event portal, but bidding will only occur during the Havana Nights event.

Instead of asking the families of each class to put together a basket for the Silent Auction, we are simplifying things this year--your donation goes directly into the funds being raised during our Havana Nights event! This is a wonderful way to support your school even if you are unable to attend the event.

All you have to do is make a donation via the PTO Venmo (@ELODORADOPK8PTO), listing your child's last name, grade level, teacher in the notes. The highest earning Elementary and Middle Level classes will win a pizza party, and their teacher will receive a $50 gift card for their classroom! For Middle Level Students, please list their SOAR teacher (if you aren't sure who this is, ask your child or check their schedule in Infinite Campus). Bonus prize: the class with the highest participation rate across the entire school will also win a prize, so every dollar counts!

Kick-off is on Friday, April 11th!!

All donations raised from this competition and our Havana Nights event go directly to Eldorado's PTO, which funds the school in various ways! A few things that PTO funds are: Community Nights, teacher allocations, school maintenance and beautification, adding hours to our paraprofessionals, Health Para, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, teacher conference meals, and more!

We hope that you will attend our Havana Nights Fundraiser and check out our wonderful auction listings, but this is the fastest and most direct way for families to support our Spring fundraising efforts!

Mark your calendar for April 10th and join us at the Stable Bar & Grill at the Sports Stable!

From 4-8 pm, 10% will be donated to Eldorado.

Stop in to the Louisville location of Sweet Cow anytime on May 14th for a sweet treat! We will receive 40% from all purchases that mention Eldorado!

The Eldorado 2024-2025 Yearbook will be going to print soon! All orders MUST be placed by MIDNIGHT on SUNDAY, APRIL 13TH! There will be NO BOOKS available to order or purchase after this deadline.

This year, PTO set aside some of the money earned from Middle Level during our Fall Fun Run to be used for an 8th Grade End of Year Celebration! PTO and 7th grade parent volunteers will still take care of the Continuation ceremony and reception on May 21st; this would be an additional special event for our 8th graders.

We are looking for an 8th grade parent (or a few!) to help plan and organize this 8th Grade celebration with the support of our PTO Middle Level Liaison. If you are interested in helping, please email eldoradoptopresident@gmail.com!
