HFRCS Newsletter September 17, 2024
SY 2024-2025 Vol. 4 Issue 2
From the Principal's Office
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope that everyone has had a good transition to the beginning of school and that routines and structure have been restored for the return to school. On our end, the start of the school year has gone extremely well, and we are so happy to have our students back in school.
This Thursday, September 19 is Picture Day! Students in grades K-8 should wear their regular school uniform (NOT the gym uniform). Students in 8th grade will be having their graduation photos taken that day. Boys must wear their white, button-down shirt with tie, and girls must wear the white button-down shirt as well. Photos will be taken in their graduation gowns. Students who have gym on Thursday will receive directions from their teacher about what to wear for gym class. Please send in or have your child bring your order form to school on Thursday. If you have misplaced your order form, please let us know and we will send you another home.
Friday, our Student Council is sponsoring a $1 “Go for Gold” dress down day. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) — a time of year organizations honor children and survivors affected by pediatric cancer to raise awareness and continue the research and treatment of the disease. All donations and proceeds from this dress down day will be donated to The Danica Strong Foundation. Have your child show their support by wearing something yellow/gold on Friday. The Student Council will also be selling headbands and wristbands beginning tomorrow at lunch. All items are $1. Please see this newsletter for more information about this sale.
Friday evening is also a very special back-to-school event sponsored by our Home and School Association. The Back-to-School Ice Cream Social and Gift Card Bingo will be held beginning at 6:00 PM (doors open) with ice cream followed by Bingo. We usually have some fun ice cream scoopers at this event, so come and see! Details for this evening are in today’s newsletter.
We are always looking for volunteers for our lunch periods in the cafeteria. Grades 1-5 eat lunch at 11:30 AM, and PK4, Kindergarten and grades 6-8 eat at 12:00 PM. Duties include assisting students with opening items in their lunch, circulating the tables and assisting students and wiping tables after lunch. Parents who are interested in coming in to help at lunch must submit all required clearances to Mrs. Mangapit. If you have any questions about the required clearances, please check our school website, under that Parents tab, and then under Volunteers.
The month of October is our Pot of Gold Challenge. More information will be coming soon!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Haggerty
We are a family of FAITH!
Remember to go to Mass this weekend.
Going for Gold!
On Friday, September 20, the Student Council is sponsoring a $1 dress-down day. The theme is "Going for Gold." Students may dress-down in the theme and wear gold/yellow to support Childhood Cancer Awareness.
On sale at lunches tomorrow, Wednesday (Sep 18), Thursday (Sep 19) and Friday (Sep 20), Student Council will be selling Head Bands of Hope for $1/each to help boost our dress-down day fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit the Danica Strong Foundation. Headbands can be worn on dress-down day.
Lunch Menu Change Thu, Sep 19
The lunch menu for Thursday, September 19 was changed. Instead of cheese pizza, buffalo chicken calzone will be served. If your child does not like the updated menu, please make sure your child brings a packed lunch and drink on Thursday.

Car Line Arrival Procedure:
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS:
- Please DO NOT drop off your child(ren) at the front door when staff members are still available in front of the Parish Center for everyone's safety. If you do, your vehicle will be going against the traffic when you exit the parking lot.
Please have your child(ren) exit by the right passenger side (if possible) so they can safely exit toward the sidewalk.
- Please be extra cautious and attentive when exiting the parking lot. Watch out for staff using the pedestrian crossing.
- If dropping off for morning CARES, please park in the parking lot and walk your child to CARES. The fire lane should remain free and not be used for parking.
Help Us With Morning Carline
How you can help with morning carline:
DO: Say goodbyes in the car while waiting
Give hugs, say goodbyes and reminders while you wait. Have the students ready to leave the vehicle.
DO: Unbuckle seatbelts while waiting
It will reduce waiting time for all when students are ready to exit the vehicle.
DO: Remain in your car at all times
Staff is ready to assist your children out of the car.
DO: Stay in your lane and wait for your turn
It is a first-in, first-out procedure. Please stay in your car lane and not switch lanes. If your child has exited your vehicle but the vehicle in front of you still needs to be unloaded, please stay in line and DO NOT overtake the vehicle in front of you.
DO: Enter & Exit School Grounds from Trenton Rd.
Apple St. is reserved for buses. Cars should not be entering or leaving school grounds from Apple St. during school hours.
DO: Be Patient
Sometimes we get new family members/friends dropping off and it is their first time at carline. Please share the carline procedures to family and friends responsible for carline.
Help Us With Car Dismissal (K-Gr.8)
Please make sure your child knows your carline number.
DO: Give us a thumbs up if you are ready to go
Help our staff know whether your car is loaded and ready to leave the parking lot! Give us thumbs up if you are ready to go or a thumbs down if you are not ready.
DO: Wait for direction from staff member
For the safety of students and staff, please wait for direction from a staff member BEFORE PULLING OUT OF YOUR LANE
DO: Remind students to listen and watch for their car number
Carline numbers are announced during dismissal and also displayed on the classroom SMART boards.

Emergency Information Record & Medical Information update - RETURN
All students must have a completed Emergency Information Record & Medical Information Update form on school file. This is a back-to-back white form that was distributed to all students on the first day of school.
It is important that we have all the information on this form, especially the Medical Information update. Many families returned the form without the Medical Information Update. Please see attached form for reference. If you believe you did not complete the Medical Information Update, please complete the attached and return asap. This is critical information that the school needs in case of an emergency.
From the Nurse's Office
Specific grades have State-mandated screenings (Physical for Kindergarten & 6th Grade and Dental for Kindergarten, 3rd Grade & 7th Grade). Refer to the school website for more information.
Also, signed Medical Treatment Order forms will also be needed if your child needs to take any medication during school hours. All are included as part of the Start of the School Year Documents and uploaded in the FACTS Family Portal.
