Saint Bridget School: a Catholic community that encourages a love of God, respect for all, and academic excellence.
Principal's Notes
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a special day when we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a brave leader who worked hard to make the world a fairer and kinder place. He believed that everyone should be treated equally, no matter their skin color, and he taught people to solve problems with peace and love instead of fighting. At our Catholic school, we remember Dr. King because his dream of equality reminds us of Jesus’ teachings to love one another and stand up for what is right.
Today also marks the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States, an important moment in our nation’s history. As Catholic families, we are called to pray for our leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom, strength, and a commitment to serve the common good. This is also a time to come together as a community, lifting up our nation in prayer and hope for unity, justice, and peace. Let us teach our children to support one another, celebrate our shared values, and work toward building a brighter future for all.
Reminders:
- Makes sure to have students bundle up this week, looks like we are in for some very cold weather.
- Mid-Term Progress Reports will be going out via email on Wednesday for students in Grades 3 - 8
- Enrichment Program for K - 5 Students this coming Friday. Thank you PTO for your continued support of our enrichment programs!
All my best,

Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Koulopoulos - Grade 5
At SBS, grades K-8 have been using the new Envision digital platform and students are getting a lot from all of the digital features. One of those digital features is 3 Act math. 3 Act math tasks are mathematics investigations structured in a three-part sequence. In Act One, there is a very short video or photograph with little additional information. The students record what they notice and what they wonder. For this 3 Act Math, the students needed to figure out the most pancakes that could be made with an amount of pancake mix. Act Two is a period of exploration in which students talk about math in groups, gather information and work to answer a question. Students come up with a solution to the problem using math problem solving strategies. In Act 3 the answer is revealed and students reflect on their solution and problem solving strategies. The purpose of 3 Act math is focused on asking questions, communicating using math language, and taking risks when problem solving.
Mrs. Koulopoulos’s favorites: Holiday: Christmas ; Coffee/ tea order: Irish breakfast with milk and sugar; Flower: hydrangea ; Cookie: chocolate chip; Place to shop: Marshalls; Season: fall; Disney Character: Winnie the Pooh.

School Closure/delay due to Weather Conditions - Preparing for Winter Season
Please review the snow-day/inclement weather school cancelation process.
If Abington Public School is noted as closed/delayed on public television - Saint Bridget School will also be closed/delayed. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
Saint Bridget School may opt to close/delay even when the Town of Abington does not. It is important to think of Saint Bridget School as a “regional school” covering 23 communities. Street conditions in regional towns, and area school district closures may not mirror the conditions or actions taken by Abington. In that case, SBS may opt to close/delay school. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
In the case of a school delay, there will be no before-school program and no school for Preschool and Pre-K ½ day students.
Saint Bridget School may close early if the weather worsens dramatically during a daytime storm, in this case, the After School program would be canceled. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce an early closure.
