Luce Notes

I hope you had a great weekend. This week we will have Picture Day, the first CAPT meeting, and our first K Character Crew visit.

Please read the following updates for this week's Luce Notes.

1. Alice in Wonderland will be our next school play. We are very excited to produce this play as it is a classic and an engaging play.
2. Our annual Veteran's Day Assembly will be on Friday, November 8th from 10-10:45 am. If you are a Veteran or you have a relative who is a Veteran that would like to be honored at the assembly, please email me at lamoury@cantonma.org by Friday, October 18th.
3. The Luce School Council (LSC) will have its first meeting this Thursday, October 10th from 5-6 pm in the library. Please see the linked agenda below. Please join me in welcoming Leah Davis to the Luce School Council and welcoming back Frankie Joyce, Elise Cedrone, and Johnny Truong the the LSC.
4. The Robotics club will be launching in October for students in grades 2-5. Please see the information listed below.

5. Luce Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Team

   Are you passionate about fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment for all staff, students, and caregivers? Do you want to help ensure educational equity for all students at Luce? If so, we invite you to join the DEI Team! We're currently looking to expand our membership. If you're interested or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

• When: 4th Tuesday of each month
• Time Commitment: 1 hour (5–6 PM)
• Meetings: Hybrid format (online and in-person)
• Purpose: To create a safe and inclusive environment while promoting educational equity for all.

3. Remember to review the NEW District updates regarding PowerSchool regarding demographic verification and District permissions and other reminders in the final section of the newsletter.
4. Parking lot safety is imperative to ensure our students, staff, and families are safe. The speed limit is 5 mph. Please do not leave your car idling when you drop your child off. Staff will be there to support your child in the morning. Please be considerate of others when driving in the parking lot. Please be vigilant, so you are aware of traffic and pedestrians crossing the street. Finally, if you need to come into the building, please park in one of our visitors parking spots.

Students in all grades have established routines & expectations for digital learning.

K-2

• Students are learning rules for using their iPads safely.
• 1st and 2nd graders have started using the Seesaw platform as a digital tool.

3-5

• 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are set up on their Chromebooks.
• They are getting started with Google tools (Google Classroom and others).
• All students in 3-5 have accounts with Typing Pal.

We made it through a month of school! I know I am tired of getting up early and feel like I need to get more sleep. Getting good quality and quantity sleep is so important for our students and staff. Dear Families,

We are pleased to inform you that the PowerSchool Parent/Guardian Portal is now open for you to review and update your demographic information, as well as manage media, handbook and device permissions for your student. This process will help ensure that your contact information is current and that you’ve provided the necessary permissions for the use of media and technology in our educational programs.

To assist you with this process, we have created a series of helpful slides and a video that guide you step-by-step through updating your information in PowerSchool. These resources are available to help make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. And, please see a summarized set of steps to follow in the graphic below to access the Demographic Verification and CPS Handbook

Please take a moment to complete these updates as soon as you are able. Should you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out—we are here to support you.

If you have any problems logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal system, adding another student to your PowerSchool account, or you’d like your student(s)’ Access ID and Password re-sent, please submit your issue on THIS GOOGLE FORM. A member of our tech team will respond back within 48 hours.

To access your child's academic progress, attendance records, and more, please visit the PowerSchool Parent/Guardian sign in page. If you need to request your credentials to set up an account for the Powerschool Parent Portal, please submit a request here.

In addition to the portal, we're introducing a convenient text messaging feature to keep you updated on important school announcements. To opt in, simply text Y or yes to 67587.
