Principal Weekly Update to Caregivers
Principal Lamour Update
I hope you had a great weekend. This week we will have Picture Day, the first CAPT meeting, and our first K Character Crew visit.
Please read the following updates for this week's Luce Notes.
- Alice in Wonderland will be our next school play. We are very excited to produce this play as it is a classic and an engaging play.
- Our annual Veteran's Day Assembly will be on Friday, November 8th from 10-10:45 am. If you are a Veteran or you have a relative who is a Veteran that would like to be honored at the assembly, please email me at lamoury@cantonma.org by Friday, October 18th.
- The Luce School Council (LSC) will have its first meeting this Thursday, October 10th from 5-6 pm in the library. Please see the linked agenda below. Please join me in welcoming Leah Davis to the Luce School Council and welcoming back Frankie Joyce, Elise Cedrone, and Johnny Truong the the LSC.
- The Robotics club will be launching in October for students in grades 2-5. Please see the information listed below.

- Please sign up for the First School bus parent app to track your child's bus route by going to this link.
- Remember to review the NEW District updates regarding PowerSchool regarding demographic verification and District permissions and other reminders in the final section of the newsletter.
- Parking lot safety is imperative to ensure our students, staff, and families are safe. The speed limit is 5 mph. Please do not leave your car idling when you drop your child off. Staff will be there to support your child in the morning. Please be considerate of others when driving in the parking lot. Please be vigilant, so you are aware of traffic and pedestrians crossing the street. Finally, if you need to come into the building, please park in one of our visitors parking spots.

Digital Learning Updates
Students in all grades have established routines & expectations for digital learning.
K-2
- Students are learning rules for using their iPads safely.
- 1st and 2nd graders have started using the Seesaw platform as a digital tool.
3-5
- 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are set up on their Chromebooks.
- They are getting started with Google tools (Google Classroom and others).
- All students in 3-5 have accounts with Typing Pal.

We made it through a month of school! I know I am tired of getting up early and feel like I need to get more sleep. Getting good quality and quantity sleep is so important for our students and staff. Did you know kids 6-12 yo should be getting 9-12hrs a sleep a day? Here is some more information on sleep and health and Sleep Strategies for Children

Flashback Dance!
Mark your calendars and get ready to dance on Friday, October 18th! Don’t wait, purchase tickets today. We need your help to make our event a success and ensure a fun evening for everyone. Please consider signing up to volunteer and/or purchasing donations through our Amazon wishlist. Also, please note that all children planning to attend must be accompanied by an adult. Thank you!
Dining for Dollars
There are 4 more days this month when you can dine in/take out from Not Your Average Joe’s and have 15% of your purchase (excluding alcohol and tax) donated to the Luce! Choose any Tuesday in October (October 8, 15, 22 & 29) to enjoy lunch or dinner (11:30am- 9pm) while helping us raise money for school programs.
Fall Family Photos Fundraiser
We are excited to share that Jamie Isherwood Photography will again be offering two days, October 26th & 27th, for families to sign up for a mini photography session at the Bradley Estate! Each session will be approximately 20 minutes and include 5 digital images of your choice. The cost is $225 with $25 dollars of it donated to the Luce.
Luce Play Liaison & Volunteers Needed!
We are excited to share that our Luce Play *announcement coming soon* will return on Friday, February 28th, and Saturday, March 1st. This amazing tradition for interested 4th and 5th graders requires the work of many hands.
We are looking for someone willing to become the Play Liaison. This involves working with the Play Director and CAPT to ensure the play is a success! If you are interested please email lucecapt@gmail.com

Demographic Verification and District Permissions
Dear Families,
We are pleased to inform you that the PowerSchool Parent/Guardian Portal is now open for you to review and update your demographic information, as well as manage media, handbook and device permissions for your student. This process will help ensure that your contact information is current and that you’ve provided the necessary permissions for the use of media and technology in our educational programs.
To assist you with this process, we have created a series of helpful slides and a video that guide you step-by-step through updating your information in PowerSchool. These resources are available to help make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. And, please see a summarized set of steps to follow in the graphic below to access the Demographic Verification and CPS Handbook
Please take a moment to complete these updates as soon as you are able. Should you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out—we are here to support you.
If you have any problems logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal system, adding another student to your PowerSchool account, or you’d like your student(s)’ Access ID and Password re-sent, please submit your issue on THIS GOOGLE FORM. A member of our tech team will respond back within 48 hours.

We're excited to enhance our communication with you through Powerschool, our new portal for student information. To access your child's academic progress, attendance records, and more, please visit the PowerSchool Parent/Guardian sign in page. If you need to request your credentials to set up an account for the Powerschool Parent Portal, please submit a request here.
In addition to the portal, we're introducing a convenient text messaging feature to keep you updated on important school announcements. To opt in, simply text Y or yes to 67587.
