Parents,

We are entering the 3rd full week of classes here at Southeast Middle. Students have been completing diagnostic exams and immersing themselves in the curriculum of their core classes. All students were able to receive their chromebooks last week due to the outstanding work of our librarians and Dean of Students. With that in mind, our counseling department was able to speak with students during P.E. about the importance of being mindful of what they are doing on their school issued chromebooks. With all of this, we still had a few cougars who did not exhibit Cougar expectations. Parents, it is important for students to understand that there are several new laws that are directed at student discipline, and we intend to follow them.

There are several things that we need to continue to remind our families of:

• Carpool dropoff is at 6:45 AM. Students are to remain in their vehicles until they are released by faculty and staff on duty.
• As per new laws regarding discipline, students are automatically recommended for expulsion after their third suspension.
• The use of cellphones and other electronic devices not associated with coursework is prohibited by law. Students are to place their cellphones and other devices in their booksacks, which are kept at the back of the classroom in order to lessen distractions.
• Please be respectful of all policies and procedures in place at Southeast Middle. We work to ensure that there are few classroom interruptions. Therefore, we DO NOT call students out of class. If there is a message that needs to be delivered, staff members will deliver said message to the student.
• It is IMPERATIVE that ALL students are picked up before 2:45 PM. Again, this becomes a safety issue when students are not picked up on time.
• ALL students are required to dress out for P.E. If there is an issue, please contact administration. This is a non-negotiable and can affect your child's grade.
• Remember, office hours are from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Registrations and drops are done between 7:30 AM and 2:00 PM daily.
• THERE WILL BE NO STUDENT CHECK OUTS AFTER 1:30 PM.
