Weekly Buzz
Lincoln High School
March 24, 2025
From our Co-Principals
Dear Lincoln High School Students and Families,
A big thank you to our freshmen parents and guardians who joined us at the Hive to hear their students present their freshman portfolios. When students reflect on their learning, discuss challenges, and set goals with their parents and caregivers, it helps them feel supported, accountable, and motivated. We truly appreciate the valuable feedback parents shared about the process. If you have any additional suggestions to help enhance this experience for next year, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to share your thoughts using this feedback form.
Congratulations to our Band and Orchestra Musicians
Last Wednesday night, Jonah and his talented students put on a wonderful performance that was truly memorable. They had the honor of welcoming middle school students from the Knox band program to join them on stage, creating a beautiful collaboration. It was a fantastic opportunity to mentor our future Hornets, and we couldn’t be prouder of the talent and spirit displayed by everyone involved!
FAFSA Support
Representatives from CalSOAP will be on campus this week to assist Seniors in completing their Financial Aid Applications. Students, please see your counselor or check the Google Classroom to sign up for one on one support.
Counseling Newsletter
Please be sure to read our Counseling Newsletter. It is full of important information about all the things students need to know to take advantage of preparing for college and careers.
Congratulations to Our FIRST Robotics Team!
Our Steel Stingers had an incredible weekend at UCSD, finishing ranked 19th out of 51 teams! In addition, our team ranked 11th in individual scoring, which is an impressive feat. We made it to the playoffs alongside Mission Bay High (Robucs) and Eastlake High (Titanbot). Although we faced some tough competition from the top teams, our students gave it their all, and we couldn’t be prouder of their effort and determination. Way to go, Steel Stingers!

English Learner Proficiency Assessment of California (ELPAC)
English Learner Proficiency Assessment of California (ELPAC)
Summative ELPAC testing started on February 3rd, 2025. All English Learners have or will take(n) their annual English proficiency exam called ELPAC. The testing window is Feb. 3-March 28. Students are tested in 4 domains (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The exam gives our teachers information regarding your student’s language acquisition in English.
Please remind your student to come to school well rested with a charged laptop ready to test. Students have been given a Google classroom where they can access practice tests and become familiar with the exam. Google Classroom Code: s4edrng
Feel free to reach out to our English Learner Resource Teacher, Michelle Williams mstinebaugh@sandi.net ext 2367 for more information.
Parent Notice Regarding the CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress
Parent Notice Regarding the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
State Testing (CAASPP) will take place for all juniors at Lincoln between April 9th-April 23rd.
Please take a look at the Practice and Training Tests for Students you can use at home to familiarize yourself and your child with the content that will be covered in the assessment. More information will be provided to students in the coming months about where testing will occur on campus.
Taking the CAASPP provides benefits such as: gaining insights into a student's academic strengths and areas of need, informing instructional decisions at the school and classroom level, helping parents understand their child's progress, and providing data that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our educational programs. It also allows students to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are important for college and career readiness, and can potentially be used for college admissions decisions in some cases. Additionally, a student’s CAASPP scores may contribute to them qualifying for the California Seal of Biliteracy.
If your child has an IEP or 504 and you have questions about the accommodations they receive for the exam, please reach out to their case manager (for IEPs) or their counselor (for 504s).
For any additional questions or concerns, please contact Launa Romanowsky at: lromanowsky@sandi.net.
