Assistant Principal's Corner
LMS Families,
Overall, we have had a great start to the year when it comes to behaviors. We have cut our discipline referrals in half when looking at the data from the past three years. Substitute teachers visit our building and compare us to other middle schools and they have nothing but great things to say. One aspect that I would love to point out is the way our students have responded to zero tolerance with cell phones. To date, we have had 1 cell phone turned into the office. That is amazing when it comes to working with 12-14 year old students. That is a credit to you as parents and your children as students. We truly are in a great school!
With that said, it still is a middle school with just under 600 students here, so we know things are going to happen. We will continue to address inappropriate behavior and make tough decisions when we have to when it comes to mistakes that are made. Our expectations are high and they will continue to rise. We look forward to celebrating our students with zero referrals towards the beginning of November in our first of many Zero Referral Club meetings this school year. Please continue to have conversations with your students about what is appropriate and what is not appropriate to do and talk about in school. It helps us more than you know, especially at this age!
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at lbelill@lindenschools.org.

Counselor's Corner
Dear Parents, We are excited to share with you that our school will be celebrating Unity Day on October 16th this year. Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month in October that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. It was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011 and is now celebrated around the world.
Our school will be celebrating National Bullying Prevention Month as our counselors and social workers will be presenting in 6th-grade social studies classes about bullying prevention. Additionally, we are asking all students to wear orange on October 16th. The color orange is a message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to talk to your children about bullying prevention and all the positive things we can do to make healthier communities.
For more information on the history of Unity Day and its impact, please go to https://www.PACER.org/bullying/about/history.asp.
Thank you!
