A Message from Principal Cutone
September 6, 2024
Dear HES Caregivers,
We have had a fantastic start to the school year with our K-4 Sharks! It has been heartwarming to see the joy and excitement as students reconnect with friends and welcome new members into our school community. Our classrooms are buzzing with energy as students and teachers work together to establish routines and set expectations that will pave the way for a successful year.
We’re thrilled to have you as part of our school community. Throughout the year, we’ll provide plenty of opportunities for you to volunteer and visit. Your involvement makes a big difference, and we look forward to having you join us!
A quick reminder: our local police department has requested that we refrain from parking on the grass in front of the school. Please use the designated parking areas to help us maintain a safe and orderly environment. We appreciate your cooperation with this request.
Also, our drop-off and pick-up car lines are now in full swing. To keep things running smoothly, please stay in your car and encourage your children to buckle and unbuckle themselves as independently as possible. At afternoon pick-up, please stay in line, proceed to the number that you are given, and follow the car in front of you to exit the school campus. Your patience and caution is important for safety and greatly appreciated!
Wishing you all a joyful and restful weekend. If there’s anything you need or any way I can support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
Christie
Notes from the Nursing Office
This year we have a new nurse joining Nurse Janie in the nursing office. Her name is Nurse Julianna. She worked in the emergency room prior to coming to work with us. She is excited to be here working with all of your children.
If your child has a medical condition which requires emergency medications, please be sure to bring the medication to school as soon as possible. A reminder email was sent to families whose children previously had an inhaler or epipen at school. Your response to this is greatly appreciated.
Students are not allowed to bring medication to school; an adult must drop it off. To administer medication, we need an action plan and order from the doctor and an Authorization to Administer form signed by a parent or guardian. If you have any questions, please call me.
If your student has a health physical, please ask the provider to send a copy to the school for our files. They can fax it to us at 508-430-7232.
Accidents happen and sometimes students need an extra set of clothes to change into. If your child comes home in clothing borrowed from the school, please wash them and send them back ASAP. This will ensure that the clothes are available for the next student who may need them.
Please complete the Health History and Over The Counter (OTC) forms, which were requested in an email sent out to everyone last week. This helps our office keep track of areas of concern with students. If you want us to know more about your child, feel free to call our office or email us.
We have partnered again with Cape Kid Meals this year. Together, we provide weekend backpack meals for students whose families may need some help at this time. Please let us know if you would like your child to be enrolled in this program. It is free and confidential. Call our office and you will be put on the list.
