ELEMENTARY INFORMATION
Note from our Elementary Principals
Dear Parents,
We’ve had a great week at school, and I wanted to share a few highlights and give you a heads-up about some exciting things coming up. This week we were able to celebrate two people who make a big impact at our school—Vice Principal Stoney and Mrs. Gillies, our librarian. Mrs. Stoney works tirelessly to support our students and teachers. She handles so much behind the scenes and is always calm, steady, and caring. We’re lucky to have her leadership and example. Mrs. Gillies brings so much energy and joy to our library. She helps students fall in love with reading and makes the library a welcoming space for everyone. Both these women show our RISE UP traits daily—Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. We’re grateful for all they do!
Our 4th graders had the chance to have UMPA come to our school for an Energy Program assembly, and the students were awesome! They were respectful, engaged, and asked great questions. It was fun to see them learning and participating so well. Way to go, 4th grade!
We just finished our end-of-year Acadience reading testing for kindergarten, and we have some exciting news to share: 76% of our kindergarten students are reading at benchmark level! That’s a 15% increase from past years and the highest percentage we’ve ever had. This kind of success doesn’t happen by accident. It takes:
Hardworking students who keep trying and growing
Dedicated teachers who spend countless hours planning, teaching, and supporting
And supportive parents—you—who read at home, practice sounds and letters, and cheer your kids on
This is a perfect example of Unity and Excellence. We are so proud of these kiddos!!
Next week is the Annual Spanish Fork Track Meet for 3rd and 4th graders, and the kids are pumped!
3rd Grade will be going on Tuesday.
4th Grade will be going on Thursday.
These events are a great way for students to show their best effort, support each other, and have fun. We can’t wait to see them out there showing school pride and rising to the occasion. Parents, if you can come cheer them on, we’d love to have you there!
Thank you parents for all you do at home to support your kids and our school.
Principal Anderson, Vice Principal Stoney

SECONDARY INFORMATION
Note from our Principal - Amanda Kuhnz
ALA Families,
As we move through this last month of school (wow) and meaningful time of year, I encourage us to reflect on the values that bring us together—peace, patriotism, and the love we share as a school community.
This season reminds us of the strength found in unifying our minds and hearts and the grace and compassion we are blessed to have received during our lives. At the secondary, we are in the middle of student body elections it has been wonderful to see the efforts of such capable and talented individuals, striving for greatness and unity! We are so proud of each and every one of them and wish them luck! Let us carry that spirit with kindness in our actions, respect in our words, and gratitude in our hearts.

Sharp Survey: Final call: If you haven't already done so, we would love to get permission from you, our ALA guardians, for your 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students to take the Utah Department of Health and Human Services anonymous Student Health and Risk Prevention Survey HERE . The survey asks questions about physical, social, and mental health; substance use; social connections; basic demographics; risky or harmful behaviors—and what protects kids from these things.
We wish all of our programs luck this week as their seasons draw to a close. We encourage you to attend our end-of-the-year events when possible to see a culmination of work our students and staff have put forth.
May this time bring you safety, love, and a renewed sense of purpose. On behalf of our staff and faculty, I wish each of you a peaceful and uplifting season.

Congrats to our March Students and Faculty of the Month
Jaxon Worthen (9th grade):
Jaxon is willing to work with any student he is asked to. Jaxon has on his own reached out to other students and helped them with what they are struggling in. He is happy and kind to others. He looks for ways to help others. Jacob is a good student. He turns in his assignments on time and well done. He helps other students who are struggling. Jaxon says hi to students in the hallways which helps spread unity. Jaxson demonstrates quiet leadership in the way he leads out in group projects making sure everyone is included and feels a part. Jaxson has demonstrated unity this month by ensuring everyone has a part in group projects, helping others study and complete assignments, and smiling and saying hi to other students. We are so impressed with Jaxon at ALA. He is a model student and so pleasant to have around.
McKay Thomas (12th grade):
McKay has taken the time to help an ALA elementary student improve his baseball skills. Earlier this year this elementary student wanted to leave ALA next year. Now feeling more connected and united with a high school student and thus the high school, he has changed his mind and this student plans on staying thanks to McKay. He is a positive influence on our campus and he is such a diligent worker in and out of the classroom. We are lucky to have McKay at ALA and will truly miss him as he moves on to other endeavors next year! We are extremely proud of McKay!
Support Staff Member of the Month - Kathy James
Kathy is always cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. I love it when I have a reason to go into her office because I always come away feeling good. She has helped unify our school community by putting in the time to train a new Registrar AND helping in other areas at the same time! She is leaving some big shoes to fill next year and will miss her dearly! Her commitment to ALA has been unmatched and we hope she is able to enjoy retirement!
Teacher of the Month - Justin Hugie
Coach Hugie is an amazing teacher who offers not only support to the students in his class but to other students as well. I have witnessed many times when he goes out of his way to make a difference in students' lives. He truly exemplifies not only what it means to be a teacher but what it means to be an ALA Eagle. Mr. Hugie is such a POSITIVE person on campus. He is always interacting with students in the hall and encouraging them to do their best, whether that is to get to class or just to smile. He is also positive and encouraging to his coworkers. I love to talk with him because I know I will leave the conversation laughing or smiling. He's always so positive and kind. Those traits help unify all of us :)
