Our regular season has come to and end, and now we are in the playoffs! Each week we will get information to you as soon as we have it. Please make sure you are reading the updates to get all of the most current information. This week we will be working on our spirit show that we will do for all of our playoff performances.
This week, we have a home playoff game! It is a 5:00 PM kick off to accommodate the El Paso students and their arrival time back home. We will load the truck after school, and then our call time will be 4:00pm. That should give you enough time to go home and change, and then get to the stadium.
Our post game tailgate was a lot of fun last week. Thank you to everyone who came to eat and watch the movie with us! And a big thank you to all of the parents who set that up so we could have an enjoyable evening!
On Tuesday, we will be ECA'd at the start of 5th period. We need you to wear your band shirt and jeans to school that day. You will get first lunch, and then we will meet in the band hall when first lunch is over. We will be together with the Legacy band for a district announcement.
Region band auditions are coming up! Region band is such a fun and unique experience. If you are selected, you get to go play with students from around the region and put on a concert with really enjoyable music. I highly encourage you to try if you are considering it! We will be entering students in this week in class. Please make sure you are looking at your music as much as possible. If you want to do well at the audition, you have to put in the practice time. Consistent practice is the key, get a little better each day, and practice the parts that you can't play yet. You will see great improvements if you do it this way.
Band placements for next semester:
We have had a lot of students ask us if they are required to audition for region to be in the Wind Ensemble this year. And the answer is no, BUT the placement auditions will be over the region music. This is the most fair way to make sure that everyone is practicing the same music, and it is challenging enough that we can see where student's technical skills are. We will also take other things in to account that we have seen throughout the semester. Such as: Punctuality, Attitude, Attendance, Technical ability among other things. Auditioning for region won't be required, but you will get extra points for auditioning, making region, making area, and making all state. Later this week I will post the full rubric on what we will be judging your auditions on. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any of the directors.
We are taking our first ever Maverick Marching Band pictures on Thursday of this week! Please bring your uniforms to school on Monday, so they are here and we don't have to worry about someone forgetting them on Thursday! The order form is posted below if you would like to purchase a group picture, or individual pictures! We will also be taking section pictures on Thursday as well!
Our Christmas concert is scheduled for December 16th at 7:00 PM. We will have all of our band students perform as well as the Jazz band! This will be the band students' final for the semester, so please make sure you are able to attend!
