Minges Brook Elementary
June 11, 2025
A message from Principal Fausey:
Dear Minges Brook Families:
As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for being such an essential part of our school community. Your continued partnership and support have helped make this year a success for our students and staff.
This year has been filled with love, joy, and excitement! From the first day of school to field trips, art shows, classroom projects, and school-wide celebrations — it has been a true pleasure to witness the energy and enthusiasm your children bring with them each day. Their resilience, curiosity, and kindness are what make our school so special.
To all returning families, we look forward to welcoming you back in the fall. Until then, I hope you enjoy a summer filled with rest, fun, and family time.
Thank you again for a fantastic year. Have a safe and happy summer!
Heather Fausey

District Policy regarding recess
Spring is in the air! Please make sure your student(s) are prepared for daily outdoor recess. Please provide appropriate outerwear, according to the weather.
This includes:
*Coats
*Hats
*Rain boots
All students are expected to go outside for recess except if they have a medical reason from your healthcare provider that is documented in writing.
Students are asked to have a change of clothes in their backpack in case of a spill or accident.
The following is our District Policy regarding recess. This is found online in the Student Handbook.
Because of the variability of temperature and other factors (i.e., sunny day or overcast day), the wind chill index is not the only criterion used to determine whether or not children go outdoors for recess. The children will not go outside for recess when the temperature is zero or below. When the temperature is above zero, elementary school personnel will make the decision whether or not to go outside at recess. All students are expected to go outside for recess and, therefore, need to dress appropriately. If a child is well enough to be in school, unless they have a written statement from a physician, the expectation is that they will participate in outdoor recess.
Please feel free to contact the office with any questions/concerns. 269-565-4500.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
The arrival and dismissal procedures are very important in keeping students safe. Please see below for a detailed description:
Arrival:
Students get dropped off by vehicle on Lincoln Hill, right before the driveway to the parking lot. Staff will be there to open car doors and let students out. Please do not get out of the car to assist them. Please drive up to where staff are so the lane does not get too congested.
The parking lot will be blocked off from 8:00-8:25. No one can get in or out of the lot between those times, Minges Brook staff included. The reason being is it causes a safety issue for walkers crossing the lot. Please plan accordingly.
- School doors will open at 8:15
- Students will exit their vehicles and enter the building through the main entrance
- Students will walk directly to their classroom with all of their belongings
- It is very important that students are not dropped off prior to 8:15 as there is limited staff available to supervise before then
Dismissal:
- Students exit the building at 3:25.
- Each teacher has a designated meeting spot in the front of the school for students that are picked up. This will be marked with signage.
- You will need to park and walk up to your child's meeting area.
- When the teacher sees you, he/she will release your child to you. It is important that the teachers see all grown ups before releasing the children. We will not release children to any adult sitting in the car, you must walk up.
- Bus riders will be dismissed with their class and will have a designated place to wait in the upper hallway in single file lines until the buses arrive
- If you are exiting from the parking lot after school, please know that you can only turn right during that busy time. When cars turn left into the heavy traffic, it makes it unsafe for all of us.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the information above.
