Parent/Guardian Input for Student Placement of Incoming 5th Graders & Orientation
Dear Incoming Grade 5 Families,
Although Grade 5 probably seems a long way off, here at Chenery Middle School we are eagerly looking forward to your child’s entry into our school community! Class placement and school orientation are two of the most important things to you and your children during this time of transition, so we want to be certain that we are as thoughtful and thorough as possible. To that end, please take note of the following:
Placement Consideration Forms
Starting today, on Monday, May 1st and continuing through Wednesday, May 31st we are collecting “Placement Consideration Forms.” They are not required to be completed by all parents/guardians; however, if you have any special circumstances you would like us to know about before assigning your child to a teacher and a team please submit one. Our goal is to best meet the needs of your children as they move from the elementary to the middle school model. As part of our process, we start with gathering parent/guardian input. This process is online through a Google form.
Parent/Guardian Orientation
On May 18th we will hold a Parent/Guardian Orientation for all incoming Grade 4 families at Chenery in the auditorium where we will provide a general overview and answer any question.
Student Orientation
During the beginning of June all Grade 4 classrooms have the opportunity to come to Chenery Upper Elementary School for a “Student Orientation” and building tour. During that event we provide a brief tour and answer any questions that students have. Please continue to be on the lookout from your elementary principal for details for the time and date of this important event, as well.
Here is the link to the letter with the information needed for parent consideration.
If you have any questions regarding placement for the 2023-2024 school year, please reach out to us. We are looking forward to welcoming your child next year to the Chenery Upper Elementary School community!
Respectfully,
Nicolette Foundas, Principal
