PARAPROFESSIONAL MENTORING PILOT PROGRAM COORDINATOR - needed at Custer Elementary School starting 7/1/24. Coordinator will oversee the paraprofessional mentoring program, including coordinating training for mentors, fine-tuning the mentorship program requirements, and overseeing the mentoring relationships to ensure they meet the outlined specifications. The coordinator will also work with district administration to plan professional development offered at district in-services for paraprofessionals. Preference shall be given to those who are currently or have previously worked as a paraprofessional or one who works closely with paraprofessionals. Payment will be a stipend of $500. HEAD CUSTODIAN - Custer Elementary School needed full-time starting June 3, 2024. Hours are 7 am-4 pm but will vary due to school functions/activities and snow removal early in the mornings. Starting $18.25/hr (increasing to $19.50/hr on 7/1/24) with benefits. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of school building as needed throughout the day to ensure students and staff have a safe, comfortable, clean, and efficient learning environment. Will maintain and service custodial equipment to ensure proper working condition. Must have good working knowledge of heating, cooling, and electrical systems in school building. Must be in good health and able to complete assigned duties and tasks and have physical strength sufficient to lift and move up to 75-100 lbs. on a frequent basis. The official announcement was recently made by the SD Dept. of Education of the $225,000 Workforce Development Grant to CSD for construction of the CTE/CHS building expansion. A big thanks to Eve Trandem and Nora Smolnisky for their work on this grant!

The Workforce Education Grant program is designed to make transformative change for career and technical education (CTE) programs offered in middle and high schools throughout the state.

“High quality CTE programs give students the knowledge, skills, and experiences to be prepared for postsecondary education and the workforce,” said Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Education Joseph Graves. “Partnerships among secondary education, postsecondary education, and business and industry lay the foundation for modern CTE programs
