Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Families,
A few things happened this week that reminded me how fortunate I am to be the Superintendent of Loveland City Schools.
Last Monday was Veterans Day, which allowed us to honor people who have served in the US Armed Forces. Our teachers and building principals did an amazing job of organizing events to recognize veterans. From drawing pictures and writing letters to hosting assemblies - veterans in our community felt loved and supported last Monday.
We have typically had Veterans Day off of school, but I think it was impactful to have students in class so we could welcome guests and talk about the meaning of Veterans Day. You can check out some of the great photos on our Facebook page, but here’s a quick note we received from one Veteran who was able to attend the assembly at Loveland Intermediate School:
“It means so much to me as a Vietnam veteran who was not welcomed home by some after serving a year in South Vietnam and is now thanked for serving with a 'welcome home' message. It brings out such a warm emotion to hear those words. My thanks as well to all of the children who read words, poems, and sang during the ceremony. They were super!
I hope you will continue this very special program in the years ahead so our children/grandchildren and those who follow us will never forget that men and women sacrificed in all wars for OUR freedom and way of life.” -Tom Cleverdon
Second, more of our schools made the list of the “Best Schools” in the country! US News and World Report released their latest rankings, and Loveland Elementary, Loveland Intermediate, and Loveland Middle Schools made the list again this year. You can read more about it on our website by following this link. Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community for helping keep our school district strong - these special things are only possible because Loveland is a fantastic place!

Skilled Trades Fair
All Loveland High School students are invited to the 2024 LHS Skilled Trades Fair. Designed for students interested in exploring options after high school, this event will take place Wednesday, December 4, during bell six, in the main gym. Several organizations will share information about roles in construction and the pathways for success in this in-demand career field. Students can win prizes if they meet with every presenter!
Interested students, follow this link to complete a sign-up form. Email Mr. Mitchell (mitchedr@lovelandschools.org) with any questions.
Spreading the Word about Tigers Inc.
Students from Loveland High School’s Tigers Inc. program had an opportunity to showcase their program last week during Capital Conference in Columbus. They attended the Student Achievement Fair, which put LHS students in front of district leaders from all over Ohio. Our students spread the word about the experiential business learning program, which is also a non-profit organization. Thank you to Craig Murnan for leading this terrific program and allowing our students to shine in Columbus!
Science and Innovation Expo
This year, Loveland will host our first-ever Science and Innovation Expo! The event will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, from 9 am to 12 pm at Loveland High School. This day is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the amazing learning that happens around Loveland! The Science and Innovation Expo is a one-day event that gives students two pathways to choose from: a Science Expo and an Innovation Expo.
For more information about each pathway, click here to watch a video or read the brief description below:
Here is more information about each pathway:
The Science Expo is a traditional science fair where students have the opportunity to conduct a scientific research project or engineering design project and present their findings to their peers and community judges, with the opportunity to qualify for Regional Science Day at the University of Cincinnati, called the Science and Engineering Expo. If students achieve well at UC, they have the opportunity to qualify for State Science Day at Ohio State University. This pathway is open to students in grades 5-12 who can present individually or in groups of up to three.
The Innovation Expo is an open-ended opportunity for students to identify a problem and solve it with something they will create or to simply create and share something creative, inventive, or innovative. Some ideas may be a DIY craft, coding/computer science project, an engineering creation, or anything else in which your child creates something to share! This pathway is open to all students grades PreK-12, and community judges will provide informal feedback about the strengths of each project, as well as areas to grow. Students can participate individually or in groups of up to three.
To learn more details about the event, how to submit a project, project ideas, and project requirements, visit Loveland's website at https://lovelandschools.org/expo.
For any questions, please reach out to innovation@lovelandschools.org. We hope to see you on February 1st!
