School starts Thursday, September 5, for all students and we are VERY excited! Here are the school hours:

We look forward to seeing all of our students and families on Tuesday, September 3, from 1:45 p.m.-2:30 p.m., for Meet the Teacher! Meet the Teacher is an opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher, bring their school supplies, and visit the school building. We can't wait to show you all of our updated learning spaces and brand new addition! Doors 1, 3, and 14 will be open to access the building for Meet the Teacher.

Supervision begins at 8:10 a.m. when the doors open at Hunting Ridge School. Bus Riders will exit their bus and walk to their classroom line. Students in grades K-2 will walk to the upper blacktop new courtyard area to line up. Students in grades 3-5 will line up with their class on the lower blacktop near the cafeteria. If your child rides the bus, please make sure they only board the bus assigned to them. Walkers will follow the paths to either the upper blacktop new courtyard area for K-2, or the lower blacktop area for grades 3-5. We kindly ask that parents do not stay due to the high volume of student traffic that we have in the morning. Students should go directly to their class line and avoid the playground so that instruction can begin promptly at 8:25 a.m.

Car Riders: Parents should pull through the upper parking lot off of Mallard, follow the circle drive, and pull up as far as you can towards the sidewalk at Mallard Drive. You will see supervisors directing traffic, so please follow the supervisor's directions. Students should exit the vehicle on the passenger side of the car. Please make sure students are ready to exit the car as quickly as possible once the school supervisor arrives. Please then exit the car loop by turning right only onto Mallard Drive as taking a left turn will cause a backup in traffic. Students will follow the paths to either the upper blacktop new courtyard area for K-2, or to the lower blacktop area for grades 3-5.

The lower blacktop parking lot/area is closed during arrival and dismissal as this is the main bus area. If your child arrives after 8:25 a.m., you'll need to come to Door #1 of the school (off of Illinois Ave.) to check them in for the day.

Hunting Ridge utilizes a 20-20-20 recess and lunch rotation. When students are not eating lunch in the cafeteria, they will be participating in recess activities. Students may bring a lunch from home, or purchase a school lunch. Here is a link to the nutrition services page to view the menus.

Cafeteria Times:

11:30-11:50- Kindergarten, 1st grade, and K/1 LEAP eat lunch in the cafeteria

11:50-12:10- 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 2nd grade LEAP, and 3/4 LEAP eat lunch in the cafeteria

12:10-12:30- 4th grade, 5th grade, and 4/5 LEAP eat lunch in the cafeteria

Recess Zones:

K-2- Lower blacktop, Gaga Pits, Lower field, Playground

3-5- Lower blacktop, Gaga Pits, Lower field, Large Field, and Playground

Hunting Ridge utilizes a staggered dismissal plan starting at 3:00 p.m. for students in kindergarten through second grade. Students in CARE or Right at School (RAS) will be dismissed directly to their program. The upper parking lot off of Mallard is closed at the end of the school day. Please do not park in the parking lot, and park only on Mallard to wait for your child. Car Riders and Walkers will be dismissed out of Door #14.

Bus Riders:

The lower blacktop is only for buses during dismissal. Please do not use this area to pick up your child from school. Students will be walked to their bus by a staff member at the end of the school day. Please make sure your child knows their bus number and only rides the bus that has been assigned to them. All kindergarten students need to have a parent/guardian at the bus stop in order for the bus driver to release your child. If there isn't a parent/guardian there, the child will be returned to Hunting Ridge School and we will call the family for a pick-up from school. Please expect minor delays the first few days of school as our students and staff navigate the end of the day routines.

The first PTA meeting is Thursday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m. for new members, and 7:00 p.m. for all members in the school library. The 10th annual Hawk Hustle is on Saturday, October 5, at 8:00 a.m. Please consider signing up to join the fun!

Registration for the 10th annual Hawk Hustle is now open! The Hawk Hustle is our biggest fundraiser of the year, with nearly 500 community members coming together to celebrate all things Hunting Ridge. Join us for a 3K fun run and walk throughout the Hunting Ridge and Willow Walk communities with your classmates, teachers, families, and neighbors. Got some little Hawks? Start the morning with our Little Hawk 25-yard dash on the upper blacktop right before we kick off the 3K. In honor of our 10th year, we've expanded our race day celebration to include a post-race festival until 11 am featuring food and family activities! Also, be on the lookout for Mayor Schwantz to help us kick things off.

Registration will remain open until the October 4, but register by September 22 to guarantee your race t-shirt arrives in time for the big day. All registrations received after September 22 are not guarantee a t-shirt for race day. Can't make the event but still want to support the school? You can make a donation directly to the PTA instead (ALL funds raised go to support school events and activities).
