Olathe Public Schools
Their Future is Our Future
Letter from the Superintendent
Olathe community,
The countdown is on! We have spent the past few months getting ready for the next school year and it is almost here. We are so excited to welcome back our students and staff!
In this issue of the Insider, you will read more about high-achieving students in the classroom, on the field and in their craft; an update on the bond projects that have continued over the summer thanks to our generous community; and various helpful back-to-school tasks and resources.
Please take a moment to ensure that your students are registered for the next school year, using the link below. This helps our district tremendously as we continue to prepare over the next few weeks to kick off the 2024-25 school year. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Your very proud superintendent,
Dr. Brent Yeager

Register for the 2024-25 School Year
Online registration for the 2024-25 school year is open in ParentVUE. Current Olathe Public Schools parents can access the link to Online Registration in the ParentVUE app or by going to http://parentvue.olatheschools.com. Parents are encouraged to register by the end of the day on July 31. Parents will be unable to access their student’s schedule until they complete their student’s online registration.
It's important to note that families new to the district, those who have not been to kindergarten enrollment, and any out-of-district residents approved to attend Olathe Public Schools through Open Enrollment will need to contact their child’s school to set up an appointment to come into the building to register.
Immediately following registration, parents can access InTouch/TouchBase at https://ks-olathe.intouchreceipting.com to pay student fees. Families eligible for free or reduced-cost district registration fees, transportation and other fees must fill out an application, which is available here. Families must apply each year for free or reduced-cost food service and student registration fees.
Congratulations to the Kansas City Star Scholar Athletes!
Bree Newport, Anjali Hocker Singh, Ella Novion, and Chloe Tyrell were just named 2024 The Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete award winners!
Winners were chosen by independent judges on the KC Star staff and prominent members of the community, including players from the Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC and KC Current. Judges reviewed the nominees’ portfolios for athletic and academic prowess, as well as their community service.
Our district is so proud of these four student athletes who recently graduated for their excellence in the classroom, during their extracurriculars and out in our community. Congratulations to Bree, Anjali, Ella and Chloe!

FBLA Students Win Big at National Championship
In the first year of re-launching Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Olathe South High School had six students who qualified for the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. All six students participate in our Business Finance Academy. These incredible individuals studied, practiced case studies, and worked on presenting their ideas in front of others.
- Recent graduate David Burda was named the NATIONAL CHAMPION, taking first place in Marketing!
- Rising juniors Anya Maheshwari and Beatriz Miranda placed 10th in Hospitality & Event Management.
- Maheshwari was elected this spring as the District VI vice president for Kansas FBLA for the 2024-2025 year.
Congratulations to these students, as well as rising sophomores Zoey Nguyen, Jasmin Marin Ramirez, and recent graduate Isaac McReynolds who also qualified for the national championship. Thank you to Olathe South advisors Tabitha Borger, Tiffany Wichhart and Kristen Bell for helping prepare these students for this competition and for their future.
Santa Fe Trail Middle School is READY for Students!
As the 2024-25 school year is quickly approaching, work has ramped up on the Bond 2022 projects! Olathe Public Schools staff are SO THANKFUL for our community members for voting YES in 2022.
- The new Santa Fe Trail Middle School building will open its doors in August! At the start of summer break, we began the process of moving existing furniture, fixtures and equipment from the existing facility to the new facility. We are currently 95% complete with this process. Abatement in the existing facility has started. Every day, we are excited to assist staff in preparing the building for the start of school.
- Work on the new Career and Technical Education Center and Operations Service Center shared building has begun. This month, we continue exterior wall construction, utility work and roofing activities within the existing building and for the building addition, exterior footing and foundation installation continues.
- Finally, we have finished the playground upgrades at 16 locations. We are finishing equipment and surfacing upgrades at Heartland Early Childhood Center.
