Principal Report
As we come to the close of another year at Toongabbie West PS, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievements, growth, and progress that our entire school community has made throughout 2024.
It has been a year full of learning, new experiences, and memorable moments. I am incredibly proud of the efforts and dedication of our students, the support and partnership of our families, and the commitment of our wonderful staff. Together, we have worked to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student had the opportunity to thrive.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your ongoing support. I am excited for 2025 and the continued opportunities to work with you to further enrich the experiences of our students.
Staffing news
Mr Lavercombe and Mrs Ajmal will be taking leave in 2025 and we will miss them next year.
Mr Lavercombe has been an integral part of our school community, particularly with Wakakirri, where he has inspired countless students over the years.
His dedication, passion, and creativity have had a lasting impact, not only on the students he taught but also on the whole school community. Through his guidance, our students have developed both their confidence both academically and creatively, and many of them will carry the lessons he taught them for years to come.
While we are sad to see Mr Lavercombe go, we are grateful for the time and energy he has devoted to our students and wish him all the best for 2025.
Mrs Ajmal, who has been with us for the past year, teaching 1/2A has made a lasting impact on the students.
Her dedication and commitment to the student’s growth have been evident in every lesson, with her warm and supportive environment that she created for the 1/2A students.
On behalf of all the staff at Toongabbie West PS, we wish Mr Lavercombe and Mrs Ajmal all the best in their future endeavours and thank them for the wonderful work they has done during their time at TWPS.
We hope to see them back at TWPS in the near future.
New Inclusive Classes in 2025
I am excited to share that in 2025 we will be establishing four new Inclusive Classes to better cater to the needs of students. This initiative reflects our commitment to providing a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
As part of this establishment, some ground work will be carried out over the holiday break to ensure the classrooms and play areas are ready for the new school year. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time and look forward to seeing the positive impact these changes will have on our school community.
School Security
Over the holiday period, if you notice any suspicious activity on our school grounds or trespassers, please contact the police on 000 and School Security on 1300 880 021.

Holiday Tips: Supporting Your Child and Preparing for the New Year
The holiday season is a wonderful time to rest, reflect, and create memories. It’s also a great opportunity to help your child prepare for the new year and any changes ahead, such as starting a new class or school.
Here are some tips to make the holidays both meaningful and productive:
Celebrate and Reflect – Take time to acknowledge your child’s achievements this year and discuss what they’re looking forward to in the new year. Celebrating their efforts builds confidence and sets a positive tone.
Encourage Reading and Learning – Set aside time for reading or exploring new books together. This keeps their minds active and nurtures a lifelong love of learning.
Prepare for New Beginnings – If your child is starting a new class or school, talk about their feelings and share stories of exciting new opportunities. Role-playing social scenarios can also help them feel more confident.
Foster Gratitude and Kindness – Reflect on the blessings of the year and encourage acts of kindness, like including others or helping at home. These values build character and positivity.
Balance Fun and Routine – While enjoying holiday fun, keep light routines like consistent bedtimes or quiet moments to help ease the transition back to school.
By combining moments of joy, rest, and preparation, you can help your child approach the new year with confidence and excitement. Wishing you a peaceful and happy holiday season!
If you’d like for your child to be part of the chaplain run programs or need support, please contact the classroom teacher. I am available on Thursdays/ Fridays at school and appointments can be made though the office.
Kind regards,
