PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear St. Catherine Families,
As we embrace the vibrant month of April, we find ourselves in the heart of the Easter season, a time that symbolizes renewal and deep reflection. At St. Catherine Catholic School, this month is marked by a series of engaging events and spiritual activities designed to enrich our faith and strengthen our sense of community.
Easter Season Reflections
During the Easter season, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the powerful message of new life it brings to all of us. It's a period for us to come together as a community, to share in the joy of the risen Lord and to recommit ourselves to living out the values of compassion, love, and fellowship that define our faith.
Grade 6 Confirmation Retreat - April 16
An important spiritual event for our Grade 6 students is just around the corner. The Confirmation Retreat, set for April 16, is a vital part of their faith journey, offering them a chance to deepen their understanding of their commitment to the Church and to the Holy Spirit. We pray for a meaningful and transformative experience for each of them, as they continue to grow in their faith.
Alberta Musical Theatre Presents Cinderella - April 10
We are excited to announce that the Alberta Musical Theatre will be performing Cinderella at our school on April 10. This event is sure to be a highlight of the month, providing our students with a wonderful blend of entertainment and storytelling. We look forward to enjoying this magical performance together.
First Eucharist for Grade 3 Students - April 27
A pivotal moment awaits our Grade 3 students this month as they prepare to receive their First Holy Eucharist on April 27. This sacrament is a significant milestone in their spiritual journey, symbolizing their active participation in the Eucharist and their growing relationship with God. Let's support them with our prayers and presence as they take this important step in their faith journey.
Stations of Light - A Journey with the Risen Christ
This April, we invite our community to experience the "Way of Light," also known as the Stations of the Resurrection. This devotion allows us to walk alongside the Risen Christ, reflecting on His post-Resurrection appearances from Easter to Pentecost. Set around the school, the fourteen stations provide a path for meditation and prayer, each marked by a banner illustrating a significant event.
We hope the Stations of Light will offer a time of thoughtful reflection for our school, deepening our connection to the joy and hope of the Resurrection.
As we journey through this season of renewal, let's carry the light of the risen Lord in our hearts, radiating His love and joy in our community and beyond. Wishing you a blessed and spiritually enriching April.
In faith and service,
Laura Houle-Tapson

LEARNING OUR SCHOOL
Grade 2A (Teichroeb/Gelleny)
It's been an exciting month in 2A as we've learned a lot of new and fun things in our science and math lessons! In math, we've been learning about data and graphing. The students have been actively engaged in collecting data and conducting surveys among their peers, exploring topics such as pets and favorite sports. It's been wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning through these hands-on activities.
In science, we've just wrapped up our exploration of sound, where students had the opportunity to experiment and discover the principles of sound. Now, we're learning about light. From understanding the basics of light to exploring the parts of the eye, our students are learning so many new things with each lesson!
Easter Afternoon with Mrs. T
Mrs. T visited and they made Easter Bunny baskets, painted baked clay that Mrs. Barr made for us, and coloured pictures that will be stained glass when we’re done with them. The Easter bunny came and hid our baskets so we had to go on a clue hunt around the school to find them.
Grade 2C (Munson)
Grade 2 students have been spending our season of Lent learning about the Easter story through resurrection eggs. In Math, they have enjoyed practicing addition skills through games of addition war. Science is all about learning about qualities of light, and in Language, students are writing up very detailed stories using 5 finger sticky dots. Best of all, is the Easter Art students have been loving!
