Headteacher's Bulletin
27/01/25 - Edition 49

Highlights of the week
Mr Lisseman - Headteacher
Dear Parents,
Apologies for the late delivery of our weekly bulletin. Last week, we marked Holocaust Memorial Day with powerful assemblies delivered by Ms. Riordan. Her heartfelt presentations reminded us of the importance of remembering the past to build a brighter & more compassionate future. The students showed great respect and engagement, reflecting on the lessons of history and their relevance to our lives today.
The Year 9 Options assemblies were another key moment for our Year 9 students last week, as Heads of Subjects presented their courses to guide students in choosing their GCSE pathways. These sessions were informative and inspiring, helping students understand the exciting opportunities ahead and make confident decisions about their futures. Year 9 Parents are all expected to join us to discuss these options during our Year 9 Options evening on 6 February.
I have been so impressed on my learning walks this week with students working extremely hard during the independent practice sections of their lessons, showing real pride and confidence in their work. Well done to everyone.
A reminder to all parents, if your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please notify the school before 8.30 am on each day they are absent by one of the following methods:
- Email: ts-studentabsence@twickenhamschool.org.uk
- Call: 0208 8944503 and leave a message on the student absence line.
Thank you to all staff, students, and families for your ongoing support. Have wonderful week ahead.
Student bulletin
Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. the bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.
Student Services
Student services is open before registration, break time, lunch time and after school.
If your child has lost anything while at school, please tell them to check lost property in student services.
Please ensure that all items of your child's uniform and equipment are clearly labelled in order for student services to re-unite them with the owner in case they get lost.
SEND Consultations
The new government are seeking to reform the SEND system and as a result there have been a lot of public consultations on SEND since they came to power.
The purpose of this survey from the Richmond Parent Carer Forum is gather the current views and experiences of families in Richmond and to use this feedback to write consultation responses on behalf of Richmond parent carers. Current consultations are Education Committee's Solving the SEND Crisis Inquiry and the Law Commission's Review of Disabled Children's Social Care Legislation.
Lockers
We would like to remind all parents and carers that it is a school requirement for every student to have a locker. Lockers provide students with a secure and organised space to store their books, materials, and personal belongings throughout the school day. They help students stay organised, reduce the physical strain of carrying heavy bags, and encourage responsibility for their belongings.
Lockers are available for a one-time rental fee of £20, which covers the duration of your child’s time at Twickenham School. Payment can be made via sQuid. In the event a replacement key is required, this can be issued for an additional fee of £5.
Once payment is processed, our administrative team will allocate a locker and issue the key.
We thank you for your support in the matter.
