Principal's Note
Hello Millis Small School Big Family,
Tis the season of presentations and celebrations! There are so many fun and exciting things happening each and every day here! Grade six has been working on their tremendous Greek Tragedies plays. There have been enthusiastic rehearsals and performances yesterday and today which have been wonderful. Grade seven is wrapping up their study of The Outsiders with multiple displays of their analysis and mastery. On Tuesday, our seventh graders are heading to Bolton to visit Animal Adventures. Grade eight are deep in their Civics Action projects and their Barbie Bungie Jumping Math Projects. The weather is wonderful and the energy is rising! Please be sure to spread the word that we are in school for 14 more days and we need everyone to keep up their best behavior!
This has been a wonderful year and we are so proud of the growth and progress we've seen in our students! Kudos!
GRADE SIX PLAY PERFORMANCES
On Friday the 6th grade students presented a series of plays outdoors in the freshly mowed "bowl" field. We were entertained by the stories of Athena and Arachne, Pyramus and Thisbe, King Midas and the Golden Touch, The Trojan Horse and other Greek myths. The students created props and betted out their lines to their enthusiastic classmates, teachers, and administration. Every one of them deserves a Tony award!
GRADE SEVEN - THE OUTSIDERS
.
GRADE 8 BARBIE BUNGEE JUMPING ACTIVITY
Our eighth grade math teachers, Michelle Shepardson and Arppana George have coordinated and collaborated to create a fun and mathematical project. In this Barbie bungee jump activity, students simulate a bungee jump using rubber bands. They start by collecting data in the classroom, measuring the jump distance with 1 to 10 rubber bands. After gathering the data, they create a scatter plot and determine the equation of the line of best fit. Using this equation, students predict the number of rubber bands needed for a safe and thrilling jump from the top of the bleachers.
MRS. SCOTLAND'S CLASS VISITED THE LIBRARY
Mrs. Scotland's class visited the Millis Public Library to watch a senior project presentation given by Falyn Walsh. Falyn’s project focused on the benefits of volunteering and providing mentorship to younger students at Millis Middle School.
