Mustang Memo
September 3, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
What a Nebraska perfect Labor Day weekend! As we move into September, we are well into the rhythm of the school year, and it is wonderful to see our students settling into their routine, eager to learn and finding God in all things, both big and small.
During these first few weeks, school routines and procedures have been taught, modeled and practiced. These habits are the foundation for academic success at every grade level. As you create and practice your “home” routine for this school year, please know that every student always has some “home” work. Reading, writing, practicing math facts, praying and service are just a few of the skills that can be practiced at home every night. Thank you for establishing good home routines that support your student’s academic and spiritual growth. We are blessed by this strong partnership.
In this issue of our newsletter, you’ll find important updates on Curriculum Night, Picture Day, extra-curricular activities and the many School and Parish activities. Please take a moment to read through it and stay connected with all that’s happening in our vibrant school community.
Go Mustangs!

2024-2029 School Strategic Plan
The MOQ School Board is excited to share the launch of our 5-Year Strategic Plan, setting the course for our school’s future. This plan is a collective vision, created with the invaluable input of our school families and parishioners. It’s designed to be a dynamic guide, helping us stay on track with our goals while measuring our achievements along the way.
We’ve also created a flipbook and a dedicated webpage to keep our school and parish communities informed and up-to-date on our progress. We invite you to view the plan and follow our progress by clicking [HERE].
Counselors' Corner
It is good to be back!! I love school! When I tell the students that I was THAT child that “didn’t like” summer vacations as a child they are incredulous. So I AM very happy to be back.
As you would expect, we are already working on our safety drills for this year. As you probably remember, we do at least one fire drill each month, one or more evacuation type drills and then a couple of drills where we stay inside–like tornado and hold-in-place drills. We discuss this in a grade appropriate way before the drill occurs. In fact, we had our first fire drill last week. The students did a spectacular job!
I will try to keep you informed as we move along with the “more serious” drills in case your child comes home and wants to know ”why” or tells you a story of walking around the neighborhood and you're like “What?!” Stay tuned. Oh, one more item, we do use the SRP (Standard Response Protocol) as recommended by our local and state safety officials, just so we all get the same terminology down.

Mustang March Sponsorship
We are excited for our annual MOQ Home & School fundraiser, Mustang March, will take place on October 18th. The chairs for this event this year are Jenny Dillingham & Kara Soukup. This event is a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts, bringing together students, families, and the community for a day of fun, fitness, and school spirit. We are seeking sponsors to help us make this event a success and raise essential funds for several key initiatives: procuring mathematics manipulatives for each classroom, acquiring math enrichment resources, upgrading classroom projectors, and providing professional development opportunities for our teachers.
By partnering with us as a sponsor, your business will gain valuable exposure within our school community and demonstrate a commitment to supporting local education. We would be honored to have your support for this important event.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact on our school. For more information, please contact Cindy Tooher at ctooher@moqschool.org. or click on the photo above.
