Music Department Director - Mr. Collin Zier
Mr. Zier, a dedicated and passionate educator, has been a cornerstone of the Orangeville School District's K-12 music program for an inspiring five years. His unwavering commitment to teaching and his genuine love for music have left an indelible mark on the students fortunate enough to be under his guidance.
Mr. Zier's enthusiasm for music goes beyond the notes and rhythms; it is about instilling a deep-seated passion for the art form in each student. He understands that music has the power to not only enrich lives but also to inspire creativity, discipline, and a love for learning.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Zier harbors a vision to extend the reach of his musical influence to even more students. His goal is clear: to teach the joy of music to as many young minds as possible. Through his dedication, he aspires to build the Orangeville music department into a thriving space where young people can discover, nurture, and explore their musical talents.
In Mr. Zier's hands, the Orangeville music department is not just a place for learning notes and scales; it is a vibrant and dynamic space where students are encouraged to unleash their creativity, express themselves, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of music.
As he continues to shape the musical journey of the students at Orangeville, we applaud Mr. Zier for his exemplary commitment and tireless efforts to create a thriving musical community within the school. Here's to many more years of fostering a love for music and inspiring the next generation of talented musicians!
Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser
Hello Orangeville community and families,
I'm thrilled to share the exciting news that the Orangeville Music students will be embarking on a delightful spring fundraiser featuring Little Caesars pizza kits. This fundraising initiative will run from February 19th to March 6th, giving everyone ample time to participate and support our talented music students.
To take part in this delicious opportunity, please make sure all orders are submitted to the school by the deadline of March 6th. Pizza kits will then be delivered to the school in time for you to enjoy and share them with your loved ones over spring break.
Should you have any questions about the fundraiser or need further information, please feel free to reach out to Laura Heath at fineartsboosters@orangevillecusd.com. We are grateful for your ongoing support and look forward to a successful and rewarding fundraising campaign!
High School Solo and Ensemble Contest
On March 2nd, the Orangeville High School band and choir students showcased their talents at the Solo and Ensemble Contest held at West Carroll High School in Savanna, IL, alongside 33 other regional schools.
During the event, students had the opportunity to present prepared instrumental or vocal pieces to judges for evaluation and scoring across various criteria such as rhythm, pitch accuracy, and technique. They could choose to perform solos or participate in large/small group ensembles, aiming to receive ratings ranging from division I (superior) to division V (poor).
The Orangeville music students achieved outstanding results at the recent competition, garnering 8 division 1 rankings, 7 division 2 rankings, and 1 division 3 ranking. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that one student attained a perfect score on their performance this year. A huge congratulations to Elwyn Thomm for his exceptional achievement in receiving a perfect score on his vocal solo rendition of 'Come Fly with Me,' famously performed by Frank Sinatra!
We commend our band and choir students for their participation in this challenging contest. Taking the stage and receiving constructive criticism is a valuable learning experience, enabling students to glean insights from expert judges in their respective fields. Through this process, our students have the opportunity to refine their musical skills and vocal abilities, contributing to their growth as performers.
Congratulations to the high school band and choir, as well as Mr. Zier, for their commendable performance and success at the Solo and Ensemble Contest!
