Nurse Notes from Nurse Joy
NPEA and the North Plainfield district nurses are excited to present you with an exciting opportunity! Optical Academy will service our district on March 13th from 3 to 7 PM in the North Plainfield Middle School Gym. All district staff, students, family members, and community members are eligible to participate in this event.
The Optical Academy is a complete on-site optical shop offering eye exams, glasses, contacts, and more. Because of their affiliation with NJEA, they are able to offer highly discounted rates and as a result, they have serviced over 150,000 NJEA members and saved NJEA members over $25 million. All insurance is accepted for eye exams. For those without insurance, eye exams are only $30 and frames and lenses start at $29 . If the $59 is financial hardship for you or your family, please reach out to your school nurse. Use this link https://optical-academy.com/events/north-plainfield-education-association-3, which is also on the attached flyer, to pre-register.
As we are in the midst of flu season, it is especially important to work together to keep our school community healthy and safe. As always, the well-being of our students is our top priority, and we rely on your support to help prevent the spread of illness.
If your child is exhibiting any symptoms of illness, please carefully review the chart below to determine whether they should stay home from school. Keeping children home when they are sick not only helps them recover more quickly but also reduces the risk of spreading illness to others.
What You Should Do:
If your child has any of the symptoms listed for the flu, please keep them at home and allow them to rest and recover.
If your child exhibits cold symptoms but is still feeling well enough to engage in school activities, they may return when they feel better. However, please watch closely for any worsening symptoms.
Children should remain at home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication and feel well enough to participate in normal activities.
By following these guidelines, we can help reduce the spread of illness and ensure that everyone in our school stays as healthy as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our school safe and healthy.
