PTO Meeting, STEM Night, and 4th Grade Dramatic Reading!
PTO Night Combined Arts and Tech for a Night of fun!
Our recent STEM display was a huge success, offering students and families an interactive experience with cutting-edge technology! With the support of our ITRT, attendees had the opportunity to explore coding by guiding robots through fun challenges. Students also showcased their piloting skills by flying drones through thrilling obstacle courses. Additionally, families enjoyed engaging with the Lu Interactive Playground System, blending learning and movement in exciting ways.
"It was a good experience introducing the kids to robots and interactive projectors to get them excited about STEM and all that it has to offer," said Andrew Smith, Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Washington County Schools.
The Dramatic Readings were done by 4th grade students who are members of the 4H Club at Valley Institute. 4H Club meetings occur once a month during the school day. During the October and November meeting, students worked on learning public speaking skills by taking part in a dramatic reading. Students were taught to read with expression and appropriate volume. In November, students performed their dramatic reading in front of their 45 peers and were awarded a first or second place ribbon. Several students volunteered to read their dramatic reading at the PTO meeting on Tuesday, January 14th."Public speaking is a vital life skill and I am proud of these students for their willingness to share their readings at the PTO meeting," said Rebekah Woods, 4th Grade Teacher.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable night of discovery and hands-on fun!
